Modern culture has so pussified what masculinity means that we have quivering lips over a high energy guy going high energy. Yep, if you've lived your life in the bubble of cubicle land getting participation ribbons to go with your safety blanket, then Marshall's behavior would be foreign to you; however, spirited and animated conversation is a thing in many other professions. Not an everyday thing, but a thing.
The other coaches and players trying to restrain Marshall is primarily what caused this spectacle. He wasn't going physical - we know that, they knew that - so they should have just left the damn man alone to make his peace.

See the tirade for yourself: For context, the Shockers were trailing 60-56 in the third quarter at this point. Things haven’t exactly gone as planned for Marshall and his Shockers on their pre-season tour of Canada. I wish I could find video of the Altman meltdown to compare this to. I couldn't even find a story about the game (assuming I'm remembering it correctly).Deuces Valley.

A-freakin-men. Coach is no dummy. He knew this was coming with consequences, but yet he did it because he has stones and he wanted to light a fire in these guys. He also owned up to it in the end and accepted the consequences.
