Love the logic that so many seem to buy into that "I don't like what he is doing so I shouldn't be held accountable for my actions"...I hope those on here championing that thinking are doing so from the crazy mindset of a fan in this fantasy land called sports and don't carry it forward to their own lives as that is a recipe for perpetual failure given very few have GM's talent.

That works both ways. I'm fine that Gregg got suspended but also feel like the refs should be suspended too. Neither did their job correctly. The problem is that Gregg will get suspended, the refs get nothing, and will probably take it out on WSU tonight. THAT is a problem.

      • Wait doesn't Gregg run the athletic department? Why would he suspend himself?

        • A few more twitter comments.

          @SethOnHoops
"WSU suspends Coach Marshall for his outburst defending his players it will pay huge dividends. Players want a coach that is in it with them."
          "
Coaches create causes but sometimes they just happen. WSU came together last night. The trust between coach and player solidified."

I predict the only place that this issue will live on past this weekend is Shockernet and phog.net. Since Marshall won't be allowed on the bench tonight, I don't expect any more drama from this.

I bet you he had a say in the matter.

                    • Anyone want to guess the final margin for tonights game? I bet we have a fired up team. Daishon already acknowledged it on Twitter.

                      • So...hear me out...one of the themes I've seen of the basketball-related posts in this thread is that the team, and a couple of players in particular, don't look nearly as motivated as they'll need to be if the Shox want to remain successful.

Also, reading the first comment on the tweet about 3G's suspension tonight, it's clear that there are plenty of people out there who think we're done as a nationally-ranked program since Fred, Ron, and Evan left.

You have a coach that leads by example, and expects his leaders to do the same. Also, you have the opportunity to reinforce that in an exhibition a full two months before the start of official practices. In a situation where the worst thing that will happen is having to let one of your assistant coaches, who you have the utmost confidence in anyway, get some reps in the head coach position.

Seems to me that, embarrassing or not, Coach did what he thought he needed to set up success in the upcoming season. Especially given the fact that he already had one player with a concussion, the play was trending toward more players getting injured, and the scorekeeper had been lax in his duties multiple times (I'm remembering our reaction against the timekeeper in St. Louis just this last spring).

                          Yes indeed.

Was there a reason for HGCM to be upset?
I'll go along with that too.

But to go ICBM after the officials and literally shove Heier out of his way and then Willis twice to try and fight the officials was a disgrace.
If you are trying to defend that type of behavior, then I can understand how the term fan is derived from fanatic.

Even Fever, who raises more hell with officials than anyone else on here said he was embarrassing and totally unprofessional.

That, for once, says it all.
It is clear which of you all are going to vote for Hillary. You've all seen Gregg red-faced and veins bulging before. Why on God's vinyl basketball court would any of you believe Gregg was wanting to physically fight? He was in complete control of himself and acted the part perfectly. If he'd have wanted to fight, he'd have not left the way he did, nonchalantly walking out and not looking back. He chose carefully who he "pushed." I'd love to know what he said when he was face-to-face with Willis, Jr. I suspect that he let Willis Jr. know what he was up to. It sure didn't appear that the remarks at that time were referee-directed.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

                            • Hopefully this can be put to rest now. Lastly, though, I feel like it should be said that Gregg, at least in my opinion, has represented WSU extremely well in the grand scheme of things whether it be on talk shows or at charity events. That doesn't mean he can get away with murder, or even without punishment for the tirade, but it also means we should combat recency bias by remembering Gregg does have a history of representing WSU well and putting that as a priority on his to-do list.
