Both are paid to do a job ... both are expected to do it. Both of them failed on part of that job last night. Only one is being held accountable.

I'm a dope. The fact that links are indistinguishable from regular text probably didn't help. Ha!

          • This will certainly help keep Marshall at WSu until he retires.

For the image of the team, this is probably worse than a player committing credit card fraud, or some larceny, or smoking weed.

Everybody not rooting for Indiana pretty much laughed at Bobby Knight and thought he was a real jerk.

Earlier it was mentioned that there was a comment from an oficial who claimed 30 years of experience. Referees would remember. They will. They always do. They remember facial expressions and body language. Wamt to push the button of every official? Show a lack of respect for them. Referees have enough trouble keeping the game and the players under control and really clamp down when they feel the game might be getting our of hand. They're going to be on Marshall to show that they are in charge and aren't about to allow him to blow up.

Someone replied by saying (basically) "You mean refs are going to call teh game unfairly because of something that happened in Canada in an exhibition game?" Yes, they will.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

He has been given the "okay" from past Athletic Directors to walk all over Doug Elgin... (I have my complaints about Doug, but still). The last piece of the tirade was him clearly trying to push a coach into the ref. That's just not cool. Call it PC if you want, old heads...but this is 2016 and coaches can't do that. Period. Watch for every sports anchor to rip us on this tonight.
Oh, no. I thought it couldn't get worse than a Yahoo.com article. Heaven forbid a sports anchor rips "us". Oh my god, I can think of nothing worse that could happen in my life. Not the almighty, all knowing sports anchors! Oh my! Please, say it ain't so.

I can't believe that no coach/manager has ever thought of yelling at the refs. Gregg Marshall is such an innovator.

              • The hot takes and overreactions are actually approaching comedy at this point. Keep them coming, guys. I know you can do better!

This is laughable. The ref failed? What would you do to hold him accountable for a failure?

HCGM was mostly angry about the team's performance and the ref was an easy target for HCGM and our fans. The only person we should be discussing is HCGM. Especially since the ref has no ability to impact WSU.

Maybe this will be the master stroke to building a team identity and unity and this outburst was nothing but a show. That is the the optimistic view, but it can't be proven one way or another.

The ref failed to maintain control and call a fair and safe game. Yet again, they need to be accountable too.

Now, it's being used as a defense for an incredibly juvenile and unjustifiable reaction to a shitty call on Zach Brown. Are you kidding me?

You're telling me if Dan Muller did this you would be on his side? Or Bill Self? Or any human being on the planet?

This kinda thing just makes me love Gregg more, but I'm a baseball guy. As for if Self did this, I'd make fun of him, I hate Self. I love Gregg, that's the difference, he's my guy so I defend him.

                          • Just a question for those that have no cares that this is being picked up and broadcast throughout various media outlets. Isn't there a thread celebrating these very same outlets speaking positively about WSU?

                            • I don't think it's mutually exclusive to admit that Marshall was over the line while also noting that his actions were rooted in merit and intent, and upon early returns showing desired effect.

This.. He went too far.. By I'd much rather have this outcome than have him bite his tongue and end up with a player seriously hurt
