Ron is on the outside looking in on the Knicks 10 man rotation. His last three games have been DNP, last two minutes of garbage time in blowout win and DNP. And Courtney Lee isn't healthy yet. His time in the NBA is winding down as he's going to have a hard time earning a contract next year when he's not playing for a bad Knicks team.

Another DNP last night.
My understanding from someone close to his agent is with his $9M over the last two years, endorsements and children's books royalties Ron should be good financially for a long, long, long time, independent of a contract next year.
But, I would not count him out of the league just yet.If you take the high road, you won't find much traffic there . . .

Ron made to the floor tonight, however, all 13 Knicks played and Ron got only 2 minutes. Of note in the 13 point loss, was that all 5 starters were between -13 and -21 on the +/-. However, the Knicks had 5 from the bench that all played between 20-25 minutes and their +/- ranged from -4 to +11. This with the fact that the Knicks have 7 PG/SG on the 13 man roster, doesn't bode well for Ron seeing the floor very often.

With Hardaway Jr setting so far with an ailing back, a lot of minutes available at guard. Knicks continue to start with a 3 guard lineup, Ntilikina, Dodson, and Trier. Mudiay and Burke see time at guard, but no Ron by halftime with Knicks tied with the Bulls.

YEA!!! Ron got to play the last 5 minutes of the Knicks getting blown out by the Magic by 26.
Granted, he played against some of the Magic's bottom of the roster, but he at least did something.
2-2 from the line for 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. No TOs or PFs.
The other 6 guards, some who benefited of Ron's last 5 minutes: 112 minutes (18.7 per), 13-44 .295 FG%, 1-17 from 3, 7-10 FT, 17 rebounds (2.8 per player per 18.7 minutes), 10 assists (1.7 per player per 18.7 minutes), 13 TO, and 10 PFs.

Playing only 9 minutes over the last 9 games (5 of those this last game), shot opportunities don't always present themselves and when they do, you can't really get into any rhythm with those kind of minutes. Heaven knows, the Knicks have 6 guards that already jack up shots and most don't do it well. Team is 26th in FG% and 28th in 3p%.
Ron's game is team ball. It's apparently not what the Knicks want to play. They are dead last in assists and A/T. In Ron's almost 90 minutes of play, he has 8 assists and only 2 TO.Last edited by ShockTalk; November 12, 2018, 10:42 AM.

Ron has made one field goal all season. He certainly needs to look to score more.

Best thing for Ron is to be traded to almost any other team in the league where he can get some meaningful minutes.

I doubt anybody wants him on the trade market. He hasn't shown enough this season and last year he was injured a lot.

I'd rather this wasn't the situation, but I think his best bet is that the Knicks don't resign him, and another team wants him as a practice player who can eat some minutes on the court if needed. Baker can bring enough tenacity to the court that practicing against him would make the starters better players.
A second-year guy who wasn't getting a lot of minutes, then gets injured AND has a coaching change is not a good pattern for an ongoing NBA career.
If Baker is done in the NBA, he can probably earn well over $100,000 a year from investing the money he's pulled down so far. That would allow him to do something the rest of his life he really enjoyed without having to worry about making ends meet.
