The way I interpreted the graphic (and really the only reasonable way one could) was that they are now just including WSU and Gonzaga as blue bloods. They even put air quotes around mid-major to point out how silly some people are still being, and to publicly mock and shame them. So, really, 100% of the list is blue bloods, demonstrating their point of how dominant those teams have been recently.

"No Baker, no VanVleet, no problem for Shockers" - U Sports
By Wally Hughes'
October 10, 2016
Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, Orlando has a variety of attractions that will appeal to you. Whether you are interested in art, shopping,
"Wichita State will begin the 2015-16 college basketball season without Ron Baker or Fred VanVleet on its roster for the first time in four seasons.
During those four seasons, Baker and VanVleet led the Shockers to a Final Four, a 35-game winning streak, three Missouri Valley Conference titles, three conference regular-season championships, and a school-record 13 NCAA Tournament wins in four trips.
Talk about a tough act to follow.
Replacing Baker and VanVleet will be impossible, but the cupboard isn’t exactly bare for head coach Gregg Marshall. Despite losing the program’s two best players of all time to graduation, the Shockers still return enough talent to win the MVC and make another March run...."

Kinda like: "Yeah, but the chickens just didn't take the Shockers serious enough."

As far as an all-time starting five:
VanVleet
Baker
McDaniel
Stallworth
Carr
That 5 probably doesn't top many of the blue bloods with multiple guys in the Naismith Hall of Fame, but that lineup is a very impressive group.78-65

No one could disagree all that strongly with a pick of Baker for that spot. But the history of WSU is much more heavily oriented toward the frontcourt.
