I'd say the odds of this redshirt just went up exponentially.

I always thought stress fractures were more about overuse and over exertion than the surface being used. I would think a hard court would make a player's muscles and joints sore, but not cause stress fractures. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a runner, but that's what the real athletes in my family have told me.There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

This definition sounds to me like the density of the landing surface for those who jump high and run fast could be one of the reasons for a stress fracture.

More than likely is a combo of the bones in the feet having to absorb much more and higher intensity forces than usual (Marshall practices), in addition to hip/glute weakness. Hip/glute weakness contribute to faulty running/jumping/landing mechanics. Add faulty mechanics over and over (repetitive stress), and you set yourself up for stress fractures.

I don't think It's a stress fracture according to what I read. It Is a stress Injury, which may be the early stages of causing a fracture, but as far as what I've seen, what they are doing now is (hopefully) to allow it to heal rather than fracture."You Don't Have to Play a Perfect Game. Your Best is Good Enough."

But Toure and Kyles didn't have NBA scouts drooling. There weren't even NBA scouts there TO drool. So, yes, draft concerns are a piece of the puzzle.

More as a way to shoot the breeze in the summer than to take to seriously a shooting from the hip comment: 10:1 seems very generous. .62 x .62 is about 36%. Plus many who left were ones at the end of the bench. So NBA concerns would have to tilt it severely the other way. Which is I think what you partly meant!Shocker Nation, NYC

I have had the pleasure of working with ShoxMVC this year at the Air Capitol Classic. He takes care of the media aspects and one of the bennies is to listen to nterviews of the golfers and the local media guys as well as the PGA guys. How may you ask does this have anything to do with this thread. It has nothing to do with it but that never stops half of the folks from doing the same in other threads. Kellen Marshall was a guy walking with a couple of the leaders in golf and reporting in to Mike Kennedy for the broadcast. Before he went out on the course I had the opportunity to "interview" him about how summer workouts were going. Here are the relevant parts that I remember. Daishon Smith is very very fast. He gets the ball out on the break quickly. His problem as observed by others is that he needs to learn how to slow it down because that gets him in trouble in the half court. D Willis reminds KM of Carl Hall in his attitude about rebounding. You don't want to be the guy to go after it if Willis wants it and he wants them all. He has no regard for his body and seems to shake off hard spills that would hurt mere mortals. Shaq has indeed been showing some leadership to the new guys. Eric Hamilton will see playing time this year for the fact that he is so athletic and utterly fearless as well in going to the hoop. Apparently both EH and DW were on the same scrimmage team and one was supposed to be the 4 and the other the 5. Apparently both wound up playing the 4 and HCGM stopped the scrimmage and told them to go outside and fight and the loser would be the 5. MM and ZBrown are better than they were last year. R Kelly has added strength and has improved his shooting so they are looking for more help from him. I asked him about the leadership of the team and KM said it is still a work in progress. He said FVV came in as a sophomore and said that it was his team. No one is willing to do that as of yet but then again there aren't very many FVV in the world. According to KM the Shocks will be quicker and have more offensive potential. Just working everyday to get better. Must be like shaving.
