  • I've heard meniscus injury, and I've heard nothing. Either way, could always be worse.

WTF?! This is enough to make me crazy. Injuries are my worst fear and hearing them this way always disturbs me because some of you guys actually have sources on team and where there's smoke there's fire.

          • If you have to have a knee injury, hurt your meniscus. Easily fixable and low recurrence concerns. Hopefully, he'll be fine.

              • Per Web MD, recovery time for strenuous activity is 4 - 6 weeks for uncomplicated repair and 3 - 6 months if surgically repaired. I think there are arthroscopic procedures that aren't considered "surgery" for minor repairs. I'm guessing the category for "surgical repair" involves scalpels and opening the knee up.

Typically if most common worst case. Some smaller tears don't require surgery and are shorter recovery times.

                  • Best wishes to MM. If it has to happen, much better now than during the winter.

                    • Not all meniscal tears need surgery, FWIW.

                      • Never understand why these things are kept quiet if they are true.. Might as well keep the fan base informed

If true regards meniscus injury, Shocker trainer will start conservatively with PRICE (Protection, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation); visual sighting of MM will confirm this as he may wear a brace or use crutches. A minor tear with no restriction of motion or locking will be treated conservatively and without surgery.

Not sure how much this means. Just this year, I started on the bike just a few days after arthroscopic on my medial meniscus.

This. I laid off running for about 3-4 weeks and worked the stationary bike almost to my death. I am 50+ years old and was probably overly cautious so it could be way less for a college kid. OTOH, mine was minor enough to not require surgery.
