Yep. Zach went balls to the wall for the ball. Oubre went halfheartedly. Granted, KU people would tell you that Zach had running start and Oubre did not, but still, Oubre didn't make a hair-on-fire effort. Rashard certainly had an honest effort at the ball for a couple of steps until Zach grabbed it and still followed Zach down the court. Perry jogged (knee was probably bothering him), and Brannen Greene just stood there until Zach grabbed the ball, so any effort he gave to chase the play was futile.

They were broken at that point. And Big Bush's defensive play under the basket on that play gets somewhat overlooked, but he definitely had a lot to do with the errant pass that Brown ran with.

Zach's play is pretty hard to beat considering the stage it happened on and the opponent. If he does that in a regular season against Bradley you don't give it a second thought. But in a game with the NCAA Sweet 16 on the line with KU just elevates it exponentially.

            ^^^Speaking of that game...

Here was another non-play that was one of my favorite moments from the 3G era...

                Tennessee vs. WSU at IBA

Tight game in the second half, Cotton blocks a shot at the defensive end, takes the ball coast to coast, finishes at the rim and gets the And 1.

That play was a 5 point swing, 94' effort, led to our 10th win in 10 games.

Cotton had 19 points - all in the second half, man I miss that dude!

Pretty sure that's the Creighton game the bj fans were throwing peanuts at me for cheering the shockers on in a section they didn't think I should be in. Hence my hate for them.

Nah they were just trying to feed their cheerleaders

Do you see all the empty seats?

                      Yeah, me neither.

I know it sounds weird but that 08-09 season has been one of my favorites. Starting out bad (we literally lost to UMKC at home), then beating a really good Siena team and competing really well against Michigan State, then starting out 0-6 in the Valley, only to end the season hot and make the postseason for the first time in a couple years. There were people everywhere doubting if HCGM could get it done here, but the run at the end of that season was the start of the success we're still seeing today. We hear about the "Play Angry" mantra quite a bit; Ramon was doing that the second he showed up in Wichita.

I miss him a lot too. Hope he's doing well, professionally and personally.

I remember loving those inbound plays, where Ron or Fred would heave it up, and Cotton would come flying in and slam it down. I will search for video, but I am seeing it in my mind's eye right now.
