it's not his 3-point shooting i'm concerned about.

      Your concern is his 15-footer?

Again...I am ecstatic he is a Shocker.
On the Coach's show, he just said McDuffie didn't practice due to knee inflammation and it is bothering him some.

Not much of a conversationalist tonight. What's your concern for McDuffie?

I was thinking Sophomore Slump. Not unheard of and it hits some great players.

Knee inflammation is not good. Maybe the knee problem from this summer has never been completely resolved.

I suspect the problem is at a completely different level, but Jamaal Charles knee never responded the way it was expected. Sometimes things don't heal the way they heal for most people.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

              • That sucks. His effort has and will always be there. Kid's a stud. Hope the best for the knee. Leader he is nonetheless. Hang in there Duff!!! It'll come!!!

I should allow a doctor speak to this but you are right that Charles' knee is a totally different injury. He had an ACL injury. The construction of the knee is such that the ACL and MCL hold the knee together (one on inside and one to the outside). The knee has no stability without these ligaments holding the knee together. On the other hand a meniscus injury can be painful, but the knee construction is still stable and to play with the injury cannot cause further damage to the construction of the knee. At some point, however the cartilage will need to be cleaned out to ease the pain. If there is too much cartilage damage, he will have to deal with the pain and it cannot be repaired. I

                      • Duff, Shaq, and Willis are solid on our front line. Duff really hustled last game and is improving on D. Another minute or two of PT he would have got his second double/double. Nurger and Kelly are improving and Brown is striving to be a 'Cotton type stopper' on D. I like our front line and we have a 7-footer coming in to join this talented bunch next Season which I really dig on. Good times await we as Shocker zealots.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                        • Nurger gets my vote for most improved. He's gone from a non-factor to a very good backup center that would start for most Valley teams.

I concur. Nurger has worked hard to get stronger and improve his game. It is paying off big time. Plus he has that kickass haircut.

Right on the money. He is also a very solid defender.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

I'm sure we needed Nurger last year because of injuries, and it's also possible we don't win certain games without him, but can you imagine if he had redshirted and he were just a sophomore this year?

I'm not sure I've ever been more wrong in terms of believing a player had a fairly low ceiling with their potential and then seeing that player take off.
