  • I would like to see McDuffie finish a little better at the rim.

Having said that, if he was wearing a white uniform yesterday, he would have shot more FTs than Woodard.

Both Marcus and Shaq altered their shots due to the OU bigs. Shaq tried to go reverse layup on the other side of the basket and came up short on one instance. I think he tried that because it would have been blocked otherwise.

      • I like McDuffie's game a lot. Very good defense. Pretty dern good shot. Very athletic. But definitely not a sky-walker. Wish he could get up a little better. Especially underneath. Wonder if that knee keeps him from getting up higher than just a few inches.

I have no idea how one would question his effort.

He bust his ass. I think he can still improve his quickness in "gathering himself for the jump." That slight delay we see after a catch allows quicker bigs time to get an angle. As his base gets stronger it will become easier for him to score inside.

          • i'm not going to argue against his 8 rebounds. very important in a game like that. i'm waiting for his jump shots to start falling.. and they will.

He's shooting .375 from 3. I don't think he's going to be much better than that for his career.

While that's not bad, a lot of his misses are bad shots that he will learn to not take. I think he can be a better shooter.

He was 32% last year. I can see him improving to 40% during his career.

He can improve. He can shoot .45 for the rest of his career and that's all fine by me. I just don't think a fair criticism of him is to say "he needs to find his shot" when he's shooting so well already.

I agree. He is making progress from 32% to 37%. His shooting is on the right path. He will continue to work at it and improve some more. I wasn't criticizing him. 37% is pretty good for his youth. He didn't come to WSU with a reputation as a shooter. He came in as an athlete who could play inside and out, with multiple skills.

I think 37% for a career is pretty good. Baker never shot over 38.3% and was 36.9% for his career. FVV did shoot over 40% twice, but career was 38.6%.

I said he was pretty good. But Baker went down because he forced shots to be the offensive player we needed. We don't need for Duff to force shots. Therefore he will have a better percentage imo.

I don't think you could be more wrong in your analysis. The one play that demonstrated this was McDuffie absolutely swallowing an OU guy's pass on the press in the backcourt. It resulted in a turnover and MM raised his hands to make it sound like Koch South yet again. That play was PURE effort.
