Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:

Wow! A former top 50 recruit! I know that some players get big bumps in the rankings when they sign with a blue blood, but this is the first time I've seen high school rankings upgraded after a players freshman year!

        • The bullshittedness of lists such as these is evidenced by how many freshmen are on it.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

            • "Wichita State Basketball: Markis McDuffie to be the next great Shocker" - Busting Brackets

              by Carmine Carcieri, Sports Writer
              October 20, 2106

Sophomore forward Markis McDuffie is expected to be the next great Shocker star. Wichita State basketball needs him to have a breakout campaign.

"With sharp shooter Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet adjusting to their new roles in the NBA, the Wichita State Shockers are entering a brand new era without their former superstars. Thankfully for Gregg Marshall and company, the Shockers have the right player to guide them back to the NCAA Tournament. That players’ name is Markis McDuffie.

The 6’8″ sophomore forward from Paterson, NJ had a solid freshman campaign, averaging 7.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game. He also shot 43 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line, while limiting his turnovers to only one per outing...."

              • Sullentrop had a short piece on MM and it sounds like he's figuring out how to play with his new weight. That is going to come in so handy once Valley play starts.

                  11/15/16

Get set for a lot more Duke and Kentucky. If this is the Year of the Freshmen, our voters were cautious with how how to place them. Only one cracked the top 10. And he isn't from Duke or Kentucky

                  Markis McDuffie
                  Wichita State
                  Sophomore | Forward
                  Score: 36.66

The reigning Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year averaged 7.4 points per game as a raw, lanky forward who helped Wichita State with his determination and grit. With Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet in the NBA, however, he'll log more minutes and evolve into Gregg Marshall's young star.

                  • MM has obvious physical skills but what I like most about what I have
seen of him is that he sees the court well and is a team player.

                    • There must be a reason as I am positive that GM and our assistants would not risk a player's health, but I didn't understand it then, and I still don't understand it now.

Why, after having recently experiencing a concussion, and having to leave the game because he took an exceptionally hard accidental butt to the head, was Markis reinserted back into the game, at a very late stage. Especially when there was no doubt as to the games outcome as we were around well ahead when he came back in?

I'm sure the trainers made him pass the concussion tests. Also, I don't believe it was McDuffie who had a concussion recently. Wasn't it Shamet?

Did Shaq maybe have one too? And Rauno a while back? Don't remember hearing about McDuffie but that doesnt mean anything. I guess if he's cleared to play there's no problem putting him back out there. You know he wants to play.

                          • I'm pretty sure everyone has been through concussion protocol multiple times. They practice with Hamilton every day.

Marshall said Shaq was concussed at the end of the exhibition when discussing his play at the conclusion of the Augusta game. Shameful definitely had a focus ion but no official word on McDuffie in that regard.
