    What is dumb?

They added extra conferences and wanted to keep from reducing the number of atlarge bids, so they made the worst of the worst conference winners play-in. The 16 vs 16 play-in game is almost always teams that weren't even in the top 150.

They also wanted to increase the number of atlarge bids slightly, so they added two spots and set it up such that the last 4 teams who get selected have to fight it out for 2 spots. Had that not been the case, WSU would have gone to the NIT this year.

    What is dumb?

Having play-in games is dumb to start with, and having a play-in for the #11 spots is dumber. If they insist on having them, make them for the 16 seed spots. If those teams end up being some of the automatic birth teams, tough; that's the way the cookie crumbles. The whole seeding thing is arbitrary and often unfair to begin with. JMO of course.

        • Not really NCAA Tourney related, but postseason related. The Vegas 16 kicked off today ....

There might be 16 people in attendance ... Not a good start for that tourney.

You can thank the lack of big name teams for that. And you can thank so many teams declining a postseason berth for the lack of big name teams.

Just my opinion, but if you decline a postseason bid of any kind, you should automatically be banned from the postseason next year. May be a little harsh, but why the hell wouldn't you want your players, especially underclassmen, to get some extra game experience?

I wouldn't wanna play in anything below the NIT. It wasn't until a few years ago, there was nothing but the NCAA's and NIT. Now there's these others that are nothing but money-making ventures used to pool also-ran teams out on the court to compete for a worthless title.

The CBI, CIT, and Vegas 16...err 8 just need to be put out of their miseries.

              ... No really, deuces.

Keep in mind pretty much every tourney besides NCAA and NIT are pay to play. So it doesn't make much sense for financially strapped schools

                  • Denzel had a great year, but over Buddy Hield?

                    Ughhhhh, that pisses me off.

I'm partial, but, 12 straight conference titles, number one overall seed, won 17 games straight, without having a single first round draft pick that played significant minutes. No one else near the top really jumps off of the page.

                        Dana Altman maybe?

                        • The Selection Committee Steve Harvey'd South Carolina, sending the 24-8 Gamecocks to the NIT rather than the Big Dance.

I don't really have a problem with the pick, but should we really be considering the previous 11 years when handing out the award?

People should keep in mind that these selections (both coach and player) are made before the tournament.
