I would prefer expanding the NCAA Tournament to 128 teams and one additional weekend of games and getting rid of conference tournaments.
Or the auto bid goes to the regular season champ.. Makes more sense

My mistake--let me rephrase--if there were four rounds, now I'm not even sure he'd make that. Better?

        • Would like HCGM to try and hide his feelings about Saint Louis a little more. He was pissed yesterday and showing obvious stress today even at the pep rally. The team can't help but pick up on that a little bit. Hide some of those hard feelings Coach.

That is what I am saying. If you have no conference tournament the only option would be for the auto-bid to go to the regular season champ. However, the purpose of the post-season tournaments are primarily financial and non-basketball reasons. To satisfy those monetary needs extend the tournament to 128 teams and by a week to replace those dollars. Probably would be more lucrative anyway.

Ditto and these tourneys ONLY end up helping P5 conferences much of the time

lol today and yesterday. derelicts? you can't be talking about the mvc team that was 2-1 against the shockers this year. you sound like one of those ku fans on phognet.

                add it all up= nit

                    Sample size.

                    Saint Louis.

I'm not pointing any fingers at UNI. They're more than a respectable team this year, in many contexts. Unfortunately they're also the "get up only for the big game" types this year too. If they can maintain that they might make one of the more unlikely runs (mini-runs?) in the NCAA tourney this year.

                      • Wherever the Shocks end up, my family will be cheering them on. The good thing about the NIT is the chance for more home games.

I was just telling someone that if the P5 really wanted to screw over the other conferences, they would lay down in their tournaments for the worst teams.

                          • I think we're getting in and I think we're going to make a run at it. I think we're going to make CBS and Jerry Palm look silly.

2-23 is an aberration. A fluke. We were getting wide open looks and just weren't hitting them. Our shots weren't rushed either.

The season isn't over like it is for a bunch of teams...it's just getting started.

The committee doesn't look at 2-23 as an aberration. They look at who won the games, who they played, and how they are playing at the end of the season.

It's PURELY financial; and the money goes to the conference. If NCAA expanded the tourney, and got the "extra" cash, it might NOT be as lucrative for the non P5 members. That's why these tourneys were drawn up to begin with.
