  • Highlight of the game for me was Jenny Dell. My goodness, watching her shimmy and shuffle back and forth across the arena was mesmerizing. Had a hard time concentrating on the game!

How is he going to hold up against power conference teams?
I said the same thing a week or two ago. I am becoming more and more convinced that Rauno is our second best 5 man.

            • Most impressed with the ball movement and unselfishness of the team last night. That's when they play best and when they are most dangerous especially when they play defense and attack the boards like they did last night.

Assist to Turnover Ratio: Shockers 2 to 1. Ramblers 1 to 2.

Now the Shocks have an opportunity to separate with games at Evansville and against SIU coming up.

                  2. The out of bounds call where Ron and a Loyola player were fighting for the ball and they called it off Ron. It wasn't even close to being off Ron.
The TV replay showed the Loyola player giving the "awe ****" look and heading back up the court. He new who it was off of.

                  • A nice "classy" post off the Illinois State Forum about our game last night.

Marshall was at his finest last night crying about every call and he was wrong on most of them. Wichita sets an illegal screen almost every possession. After they set the screen they usually lean or slide step in the direction the defender is going. Almost every time they guard the ball, they make contact with their knees or body up. On offense, they usually try to initiate contact. They have a lot of big guys that they just interchange in and out of the game. I think it is part of their strategy to get opponents big guys in foul trouble because they have more depth. All that being said, watching Marshall cry to the refs the whole games makes me really hate the guy. By the way, they wasted time at the monitor twice, while one of them was when Shaq Morris pretended he got an elbow to the face when in reality an arm grazed his face on a rebound.
If "illegal" things happen every possession and every game and never get called .... maybe you don't understand the rules right.

Illinois State fans trying to analyze basketball is comparable to UNC basketball players trying to analyze Algebra.

Not fair. Algebra is just a bunch of numbers, letters, and symbols mixed together in an utterly confusing, and seemingly useless jumble. Which is the same as the English papers they got A's on. It's all very confusing.

                              They just keep getting trashier

We lack a Ransom to knock the teeth out of Baker's skull this year, but I'd be interested to see if MM throws a pick for DAP and the resulting doom Baker would see. MM is made of iron and granite and will not be easy to muscle around.

                              • I thought Fred's game last night may have been his best performance. He did, as great point guards do, in my opinion, make everyone around him much better and never forced anything. He shot when he was open and stayed out of garbage underneath with great wisdom. Not that I don't appreciate the scoring when we need it, but he has had some very low shooting percentage games when he is forcing it a bit.
