To be fair, one could question how close to D1 SIU and Drake really are.

But generally, I agree. He is finding his role.

You are correct, but he shot it pretty well against that well refereed team from the BigLeast too.

      • 14-28 from three since he made his first jumpshot. One thing no one should question is whether CF can make shots. The only question is how many he should shoot since he can get his shot off the dribble as well as anyone around.

Because of this I think he has yet to find his role. He's too good to just be a catch-and-shoot guy like some predicted he would be, but is a Conner pull-up a higher percentage shot that whatever else we can get within the offense? The guy could definitely put DJ Balentine numbers at any other Valley school.

I believe CF is best off the dribble. Not quite as good (but close) at catch and shoot. Mere mortal off the screen.

Ron Baker had 4 stitches on a cut on his head after the game. Collision happened in first half. Returned to play. Hair still looks great.

              • It was exciting to see the offense come alive again. Baker and FVV played exceptionally well. FVV would have had a triple double had he played more minutes. McDuffie had a highlight reel layup which is becoming his norm. The defense was suffocating especially beyond the arc where they held SIU to 1-11 or 9%. All of this in front of a sellout crowd at SIU.

                Notable stats
WSU out rebounded SIU 40-25 which included 15 offensive rebounds
On the defensive end FVV and RB combined for 16 rebounds while the rest of the team combined for 8
WSU was 12-24 from beyond the arc
FVV and RB were a combined 7-8 from the FT line
FVV had 6 assists and 0 turnovers

                • My favorite play was one in the second half where Connor inbounded on our end to Shaq at the top of the key. Shaq appeared to dribble aimlessly a couple of times and the flipped the ball back to Connor who had a perfect look because of the screen Shaq set. The shot was nothing but net.......

CF is 9-17 (52.9%) from 3 over his last 4 games.

I am not so sure about the above assertion.

Connor is a very cautious player. He takes care of the ball and is risk adverse. He only has three turnovers in eight games.

He definitely is not a traffic player. His dribble penetrations to the basket can be counted on one hand. His truncated dribble drives usually result in a pull up jumper.

Connor has only shot 9 free throws in eight games. That is headed toward Evan Wessel territory.

Balentine can score from any spot and can score by any method, including the free throw line.

I know who I want to take that buzzer beater shot, and I can't believe I am saying this -- it ain't FVV no More.

                            • Conner is gonna shoot a game winning three over Perry Ellis's outstretched hand following an assist from Evan Wessel in the dance this year. I've already got "The potential irony of Perry Ellis" thread located and ready to bump.

Comparing CF and EW free throw opportunities? You are being funny.

CF has rarely been in the game without Baker or Fred. Those two dominate the ball by pounding it. Therefore, opportunities for others to dribble penetrate are greatly reduced with the thirty second shot clock.

It has become apparent that CF can get a shot for himself or others without pounding the ball. As teams begin to over play him, the dribble penetration & kick to shooter situations will increase.
