      • Watching the offense today, and looking at the box score...

This team still has the ceiling I thought they had. Frankamp took 8 shots and had 14 points in 17 minutes. That's probably just about perfect. The shots he took he can get against anyone, unless people want to start guarding him out to 25ft. I'm not going to pretend that SIU is great, or that their defense is even good, but the offense is starting to find itself. If it ever clicks consistently, a lot of Valley teams might experience what SIU did today.

Bad day offensively for the bigs, but the guards were looking for and finding them (some days you just don't finish. I'm not mad, they finished against Evansville when we really needed it.)

We probably could have scored 100 points and won by 40. I like the way it was handled.

Also, still waiting on my home cooking. A completely outmatched SIU team shot 11 more FTs than us today (also we were 17/21 today, so I guess we've been practicing---thanks coaches show callers!).

In 4 MVC games, Wichita State opponents have 72 baskets and 71 turnovers
          That cannot be. Can it?

          • Listened to the game earlier on the radio and just watched the video--on the whole, very happy with how we played. FVV didn't force as much. His rebounding was a Huge plus today. Ball movement was great at times. SIU's crowd was so quiet (especially on the radio)--never a factor (of course, the Shockers took them out of it quick--but, I didn't think SIU's fans were making much noise even at the start). CF is a shooter! Loved the announcers--best I've heard in a long time. Couldn't believe how obnoxious the SIU P.A. announcer was during the game--especially when they were so far behind. All the talk about Landry Shamet on the tv and whether he should be red-shirted or not....wow, that's going to be a tough decision. I'm starting to form my opinion---but I'm thankful it's a decision I don't have to have any part in making.

On one occasion, VV brought the ball up court. The defender, #1, bumped VV three times, no foul called and the bumps nearly knocked him off stride.

I have no idea what a foul is in college ball.

He did not have a monopoly on stupid passes. Simon had a beauty as well as others.

Right but he left Baker in. I'd put in Grady and Baker and get it done for him, then send in the B/C team. But he probably didn't realize how close FVV was.

You guys have it rolling today, and I suspect you've got another NCAA tournament run in you. Good luck the rest of the way.

                    • This was a pretty amazing quote off the SIU board (who were very complimentary of us)

                      • WSU now shooting over 40% from 3 over the past 7 games.

There is still time for this team to become the team everyone thought they could be.

                        • I think I said Conner would be over 40% from 3 the rest of the year a couple of games ago....I'm thinking 45% now. More.

I think you also said we had to score 75 today to win, and that we would only do that with Franny shooting at least ten times. In reality, we only HAD to score 59, and when you shoot as well as Conner, 8 is enough. :)

We shot it a little better than I anticipated. Sue me. :yahoo:

I do believe maybe people who questioned if Conner could shoot at the D1 level have been answered.
