If Palm says last team in, then wsu is sitting nice for a 9 or 10 seed. :)

The loss last night would move Texas Tech to 9-10 and would put them out with his suggested rule. I like his suggestion.
Absolutely agree with him. It's a great idea. There's nothing to be done about automatic qualifiers, because the league gets to decide its representative; so if a league is silly enough to invalidate its regular season and send a tournament winner -- and yes, I know they all do it for the extra cash, but it's still a bunch of random foolishness (or maybe foolish randomness) -- the NCAA is stuck. Theoretically, a team could go winless on the season, then get on a roll to win its conference tournament somehow, suddenly be in as the lowest #16 seed of all time (talk about a play-in team), and they'd have "earned" their spot.

But no team that loses more often than it wins against conference opposition has a realistic chance of being able to win the big prize, and as a result they should NEVER get in at large, no matter how good their conference is (or is alleged to be).

                • The advanced analytics statheads say we should look beyond just wins and losses – which is good news for Wichita State. But do the ratings stack up?

                  • Team Rankings currently has WSU in as an 11 seed and 42% to make tourney...The link below shows all bubble teams no matter how remote. If there is a seed # by the team.....they are in. TR had WSU in two days ago then out going into yesterday but back in today.

                    • Teams below are listed in order mostly based off the bracket matrix, along with a few tweaks of my own. Adding notes of who is done playing and who still absolutely has to win more games helps to clarify where things might shift.

                        • @JH4:P - Are we fairly close to Tulsa on the cut line ? Is there any possibility that the committee would put Tulsa in and leave us out since they beat us head to head with FVV on the floor. (yes I know that he was playing hurt)

                          • B10 could go from annoyance to huge problem if chalk doesn't hold today. No doubt Illinois and Nebraska would be bid stealers and Michigan and OSU are on the bubble, AT BEST (I think both are out).

Same thing in the SEC except all 4 dogs are clearly out of the brackets right now. Pray for the favorites there. Be safe and pull for San Diego State. At least if Nevada wins it helps our RPI.

Nothing to worry about in the B12 or ACC or Bleast or Pac12.

The AAC and A10 tourneys are a mess.

                            Other games of genealogical interest:

Sam Houston State (Matt Braeuer) vs TA&M-CC (Marty Gross) in the Southland Conference semis.

SWAC semis MVSU could give Evansville a bit of a CBI RPI boost (I kid because I care. It's a long week folks)

NMSU should dismiss the WAC, but it would be nice to see this through starting tonight at 8pm.

                              • Please do not take this the wrong way. Just looking to clarify...

I listed teams, in order, with a cut line. Why am I getting questions about how close Tulsa is to WSU or how many of my bubble teams I expect to get in?

Tulsa is a good half dozen or more spots behind WSU on my list, but they are still playing and have time to pass WSU if they do well.

For every bubble team below the cut line that moves ahead of it, someone will drop below it.

                                Does this help?
