A Bleacher Report article from March 2015 gives good insight into the selection process. The article mentions a committe member keeping tabs on the "bracket matrix". Per this matrix, as of today WSU is on all 79 brackets tracked with its average seed being the highest of the four 9 seeds. It's an interesting composite that should give most Shocker fans a chance to exhale regarding our at-large standing.

I also liked the very last point:
By the time we were building the bracket, there was very little debating and a lot of simply watching the pieces come together like a jigsaw puzzle. There's no room for conspiracies and creating "juicy" pairings (i.e. Kentucky and Louisville meeting in the Sweet 16 last season), no matter what the conspiracy theorists say. Asked the most surprising thing he learned from the experience, Will Haskett of the Horizon League Network said, "When it comes to placing the teams in the actual bracket, there is absolutely no way for the committee to create those conspiracies. There is no such thing as an orchestrated matchup."

Jerry Palm saying that two of our worst losses came with VanVleet just goes back to the point that the Valley is a wretched conference to be in. No room for screw ups. Gotta be perfect. And even then, everyone says "Yeah, well who did they beat?" Everyone in the P5 gets room for a terrible loss, because they have a good team right around the corner to fix it. We lose 2 games in the Valley and people wanna throw us onto the bubble.
Screw the Valley and screw Jerry Palm.

I don't get too worked up at this time of year. Most teams above and below us will lose games from here on out. We probably have the best shot of winning out.
I wonder what Palm says about N Carolina and Iowa State's loss to UNI. Just curious if he's giving those two teams grief.
