I don't think I've complained about refs ever costing us a game, and maybe they didn't. Maybe it was just my bias viewpoint, but I was astounded and rewound several plays, of which, most I could not come up with an explanation.

You must have missed the UConn game in Maui? The ref even apologized -- and that never happens. :)

I did complain about that one. It was a long time ago and I had forgotten. During games I do verbally berate the officials regularly, but that's heat of the moment stuff. Generally after the game I look at the good things the opponent did or the bad things the Shockers did. However, I was mesmerized during the SH game with the officials. I just didn't get it.

Turnovers at the wrong moment cost WSU the game. Multiple guys lost the ball or fouled on Offense that created crucial turnovers. Team loss.

A little bit of home cooking from the refs as well I think after rewatching. Maybe they got caught up in the emotion of it all. Seton Hall got a few flop calls and imaginary charges. Utah tried that but didn't get those calls. There must be some kind of scouting report on Baker and VanVleet where they game plan the harassment and flopping.

For those of you who aren't worried about our at-large chances.....we were a 7 seed last year with a 30-4 record.

Probably going to have to win out to be comfortably safe.

I'm reading this talk about melting down. I'm not melting down. We need to make some changes. Small ones, but changes nonetheless. I'm a charter member of the 'Wessel ought to be sitting a little more in critical situations club'. That one's been obvious all season.

I'm glad we have Marshall as a coach, but he needs to get this figured out. And he will. And we will be better, both this year and next year.

All I can say about Wessel is if we absolutely need a basket, we have a better chance at getting 2 shots instead of just one if he is on the court.

I thought I would be smart and post Wessel's +/-, however, that would not help my argument that he is a positive on this team. I guess there isn't a stat for floor burns and bloody noses.

I like EW's hustle, but it's not just his lack of offense that bothers me, it's his D. For 2 years every team we play tries to isolate the guy he's guarding and go one on one. Many times they are successful. The guys he guards ALWAYS score more than he does. I'm not saying he shouldn't play, but 38 minutes on the hope that he will rebound and set good screens? How bad are the other 4s in practice?
That being said I'm not the guy to ask HCGM about it but I wish an assistant or Jans would.

HCGM and FVV will learn a lot from this game and make the right adjustments going forward. This team is young and we're having growing pains. Last year we were dropped 2 seed lines in order to get the matchup with KU. It happens all of the time. Simple as that.

If Fred has a bunch of turnovers, we can still win. He had 5 against Kansas and we still won. But if both Fred and Ron have a bunch of turnovers, then it makes it very hard to win. And even then, we still had our chances in this game.

Incidentally, both Fred and Ron had career highs in turnovers in this game.
