  • At first glance I thought maybe Drake was the highest seed from the one-bid conferences.

However, after a closer look I think Memphis is the only selection from Conference USA.

MVC and Conference USA teams may need to start playing each other more and try to build each others resumes.

    Are you listening Tulsa.

      • Another thing thats crap are schools playing in 16 team conferences where they only play teams 1 time. Villanova flat out does not belong with 6 of their wins against bottom of the conference teams, no wins against the top 4 teams. Its a no brainer! 7th & 8th places teams in BCS conferences are getting all their wins from the bottom teams.

Don't belong: Villanova, Kentucky, Arizona, Oregon, Baylor

        • And yes, as some other posters have pointed out, I was trying to say that teams like San Diego and Georgia would not have received bids had they not won their conference tourneys. Hence, they took at-large spots from some more deserving teams. The other posters said it more eloquently in a lot less words.

Good idea 1972Shocker, the Mid-Majors need to develop a team up strategy against these BCS's

In an ESPN Insider article a few days ago, they said Conference Affiliation is definitely taken into account.

Won't matter....they'll just give it the "eye test".

Remember a couple of years ago? The MVC "FIGURED IT OUT". All the big schools screamed bloody murder. Well, hello "eye test".

                    • Same with Oregon who got 8 of their wins against the bottom of the conference and only 1 at home against the top 4. Man thats just flat bad.

                      • The Shocks did get a game with UAB this year. Not sure if that was a buy-out or if we are returning that game next year.

I just don't understand WSU and Tulsa not playing home and home schedule. Has to be a win-win-win game.

Unfortunately, that's a Big East team in the Philadelphia market, two NCAA staples in UK and UA, and a Baylor team with Texas influences that finished fourth in one of the best RPI conferences in the country ... but there really isn't an good excuse for Oregon being in.

                          • This is exactly why I wanted Ill. State to win the Valley Tourney after we got knocked out. After all the whining the year the MVC had 4 teams, I do not expect much now from these people. However, I did like the General's idea of expanding the Dance to 128 or so. Then the NIT could double their field as well?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                            • I know lets create 1 super mid major conference with 22 teams and start league play before Christmas where we don't have to play each other but 1 time to show BCS how their conference system sucks.

I think they should pick 64 teams from the BCS conferences and 64 from non-BCS conferences. Seed the two groups separately then match them up in the 1st round or break it into 4 regions with each group seeded 1-16 and then match them up and then go from there.

Personally I would eliminate the post season tournaments and let the body of your work in the regular season determine your fate.

The BCS Conferences would have there only selection process and the non-BCS Conferences would have there own, separate selection process.
