Is it really a possibility that Grady could be back playing anytime soon? I figured we wouldn't see him till MVC time if we even do see him ever again.

I definitely wouldnt think he could possibly be cleared to play for several weeks. Although, if he's already cleared to come home with the team on his own two feet, that certainly helps.

I haven't heard anything, and I have no reason to say this outside of speculation, but I'd say the earliest he returns to the court is Valley play.

I'd give it 33/67 he's played his last game in a Shocker uniform. I hope I'm just as stupid and wrong as I think I am .....but these spinal cord injuries are a dangerous thing. And I'd much rather see Anton running around with his grandchildren and degree from WSU than win a National Championship.

        And it's not even close.

Anyone here going to the game?? I'll be making the 4 hour journey to cheer my ass off for the gang and watch a great game!! Some folks around here need to lighten up a little and cheer for the guys instead of bitching about this and that... With that said, "Go Shocks!!"

Would I put Wessel above Zach Brown, Kelly, Shaq, and Nurger? Yeah I would.
keep on making those dumb statements. Shaq is a much better scorer than Wessel, who is a serviceable PF in the Valley but gets his lunch stolen
by bigger, more talented P5 players.

Or better yet, pass me your kool-aid, I'm out of vodka.

Speculation over. Grady is out for the foreseeable future. It's unreasonable to think he'll return to D1 level of athleticism any time soon. At best he'd be cleared for physical activity in 2-3 weeks. Then it's going to be weeks to get back strength and the learning curve etc.

Again, this fine young man getting to walk and live a normal life for the next 80 or so years is the only thing that's important. But in the realm of this WSU basketball season, we're going to have to learn to play and win without an experienced post scorer.

That's great for Grady. Unfortunate for WSU basketball.

Hope everyone can rally and Anton and grow from this.

I won't be able to make this short jaunt for two reasons:

                  -Duty calls and

-I lost my voice in Orlando yelling at the refs and other teams especially the hacks from USC.

Someone else will have to carry the torch

Gregg Marshall trusts Evan Wessel enough to give starter's minutes for two seasons despite his scoring. Gregg Marshall trusted Shaq enough to give him a DNP against Alabama and 3 minutes against USC. You might want to call me out for putting Wessel in my top 5 of a team missing so many important pieces, but I'm guessing you wouldn't have the guts to to go up to Marshall and call him a kool-aid drinker for putting Wessel in the starting lineup even with everyone here. And Marshall is one that sees these guys in practice every single day.

Better we get some healthy bodies before conference so he can keep being our glue guy. He's never going to be a scorer on a consistent basis.
We have a bunch of supposedly good 3-pt shooters. So far it hasn't worked out that way. Grady (1-6, 16.7%) shouldn't be shooting any 3's. Taylor (6-22, 27.3%), I'll give a pass on since he's only a freshman. Wessel (6-21, 28.6%) is nearly as bad as Taylor. I don't have any problem with Evan putting up 3's. I just wish he'd make a higher percentage. He looks like he's capable.

                      The players I want shooting 3's are Baker (17-43, 39.5%) and McDuffie (6-12, 50%). And I'll throw in Hamilton (2-5, 40%), too.

And, of course, VanVleet when he gets back in the lineup. And Shamet, if he's back this year.

                      Oh, and Frankamp.

Because 50%+ of the good ones are sitting on the bench, unable to play?

I don't see him coming back at all, unless he somehow comes back stronger than he was. Even before the injury, I could see him limp slightly when running down the court. I'm sure that's because of the knee surgeries.

So add this injury to his bad knees and I don't see him returning. And definitely not at 100%.

I know you've drank the kool-aid, but look at the facts.

I don't necessarily agree with the coach on this one. Here, let me help you.....

                            Shaquille Morris
G Min FGM FGA FG% 3PM 3PA 3PT% FTM FTA FT% Off Def Reb Ast TO Stl Blk PF Pts

                            Evan Wessel
                            6 23.3 1.3 4.0 33.3 1.0 3.5 28.6 0.0 0.2 0.0 1.2 1.3 2.5 1.2 0.3 0.5 0.0 1.5 3.7

Shaq is hitting 46.7% from the field, Evan is hitting 33.3. He's hitting 87.5% of his free throws. Wessel is 0. Shaq's scoring average is MORE than Wessels in roughly half the minutes. Wessel is getting .7 more rebounds in TWICE the minutes.

Why did we lose three games in Orlando? Crappy shooting. Evan's not helping us there. If Evan doesn't pick it up, we'll continue to lose until we get some firepower back. Again, I like his hustle and the fact that he's a glue guy, but right now we need offense.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result. The lineup needs a bit of a shakeup until we get Fred and Connor back. Evan isn't cutting it. Look at the stats. Our only players with worse shooting percentages are Bush Wamukota, JRS and Rauno.

And I'm not necessarily on the Shaq bandwagon.

PS: Please don't mention the intangibles he brings. If he were bringing those intangibles, why'd we go 0 for 0rlando?

To me, this is like the heart problem Carl Hall had. IIRC, he did not compete in sports of any kind for about two years.

Anton needs to think about life beyond college basketball, focus on his recovery and getting his degree. Given the limited time he has left, that is what I would do. My hopes are for him to have a full recovery and a normal life. Sucks that it had to end like this.

We are driving out from Louisville. Looks like SLU and Evansville are the two games we will make this year prior to the MVC tournament

Does your mom work for YUM? I think I met her and your dad in the cafeteria last week. Real nice people.
