  • WSU Versus Saint Louis Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Here's the deal. It goes like this. Saint Louis is a city that we would love to play undefeated basketball in this Season. The Billikens used to play in the Valley and last Season was 3-15 in the Atlantic 10 and 11-21 overall. They return 4 starters led by 3-point ace Marcus Bartley. Charlie Spoonhour used to coach there and Bob Pettit never played there but I enjoyed watching him play for the Saint Louis Hawks many moons ago.

The Shocks are ready to take a solid step forward and begin another winning streak we are so used to with a healthy FVV. We want FVV with a totally healed hammy and ankle with no limping. We miss him like any team would an All American point guard. Few games on the road are without hardships but look for the Shocks to win this game.

Hate to be a debbie downer, but until they prove they can win without FVV, I have to go against the Shox. I really, really hope they get it together, and hopefully they have FVV back by then. If they do, it's a win. If they don't, it's a loss. A close loss, but a loss.

If we play without FVV and without Grady, we lose, though we did play hard in the second half today.

        Should be a good game.

We are going to struggle until we get a healthy FVV and/or some solid play at the 4/5 slots.
I like JRS to run the team if FVV isn't ready. We need RB on a wing running off screens.
I'd like to see some 3-2 match up zoning to defend perimeter shots. I am trying to stay
positive. This would be a big win for us, a confidence builder and spark to start us on
          a nice run. 75-72 good guys !

A win would be nice but I don't see it happening at this point. I hope I am wrong.

Gotta stop the bleeding. Hard to say it will happen though. I think our most effective line-up right now is JRS, Baker, McDuffie, Wessel, Hamilton. I'm not sure whether or not to laugh or cry at that sentence, but one thing I know for sure is that it is crazy to even think that. Even two weeks ago you'd have had to be institutionalized to think it.

Good news is that Saint Louis is worse than any of the teams that we've played so far. Bad news is that away games are always difficult, and right now we need guys to get back their confidence. I hope for a regression to the mean; as bad as these last four days have been, I think that a LOT of what we've seen has just been particularly bad shooting. Bad defense, bad passing too, but we beat USC and Alabama if we shoot badly instead of terribly. We missed as many shots as Alabama took, and almost as many as USC took. That means we are doing some things right, we are getting extra possessions, we are just wasting them.

St. Louis may be bad, but they've got a boner for us like Tulsa and Iowa did. Going to be a tough game.

Wessel one of our '5 best'? ROFLMAO. BTW, try improving our shooting percentage with him throwing up bricks? ROFLMAO X 2

Better we get some healthy bodies before conference so he can keep being our glue guy. He's never going to be a scorer on a consistent basis.

Shocks need this one if for no other reason than to heal some of the bruises to their psyche that they sustained in Orlando. The most important thing is that they show they are starting to get it and at they have the ability to learn and grow from their trials and tribulations.

The fact that you complained about a previous starter instead of the freshmen or walk-on makes your statement a little silly. Wessel might be completely offensively incompetent, but isn't like we are full of people that provide more offense and also provide the same level of defense. Would I put Wessel above Zach Brown, Kelly, Shaq, and Nurger? Yeah I would.

Without FVV or Grady, Shox 68-65. With FVV and Grady, Shox 71-61. With one or the other, 69-63, Shox.

Jim Crews is still coaching STL, right?

                              Shockers - 68
                              Gremlins - 61
