I agree, when you're paying that kind of money to a coach you expect to at least make an effort to try and recruit blue chip players. When the number 1 high school player in the country Josh Jackson was playing here at the tournament here at Hartman, he told KWCH news he liked Wichita State, but no one has ever made an attempt to talk to him. Now maybe there was some NCAA rule that kept that from happening, but the news clip shows Bill Self at the game watching and licking his chops, Marshall was no where to be found, but Kyle Lindstead was there I guess in his place. What I'm saying people is this, we should be using our success to make an effort to try and recruit top 100 players, or start looking at some of the Juco elite to bring on board. Bobby Knight used a lot of Juco players and had success with it. Wichita State has to make an effort to go after blue chip players while our program is doing well to continue keeping us a national powerhouse. We got a good preseason non conference schedule this year, we can't afford to lose anymore games or we can forget about getting some of those teams to play us again or any good basketball conference schools to play us. We can't depend on Sunrise Academy to be our only source of players. And for those of you who say it's only five games, well five games can make you or break you when it comes to tournament time if you had a poor showing on your non conference schedule. We can't afford to lose anymore non conference games. And any of you who want to say I'm being negative, think what you want, I'm being a realist! I'm hoping this was a wake up call to the team. I hope Marshall lets them rest up a day or two before St Louis, especially Ron Baker. This team has looked completely out of sync since Tulsa, I was at that game and we got manhandled. Maybe it's the adjustment to the 30 second clock. It seems like they are having some problems executing their plays in that amount of time. I do know we are going to have to start driving into the lane and creating foul trouble for the opponents if we want to win. I haven't seen much of this at all this year so far. We can't win on perimeter shooting alone. There are some players that need to step up and draw those fouls underneath the basket instead of kicking it back out. I don't mean just the underclassmen, I don't see the aggressiveness in Van Fleet that we saw his first two years when he would drive the lane and draw the foul. He's never been the same since he took that hard knock and got laid out on the floor from Kentucky in the NCAA regional's two years ago in St. Louis. And to the people who will criticize me for my post...I could care less, I'm just calling as I see it. I guess we can agree to disagree. I do want the Shocks to do well this year and have another tournament run, that we can all agree on.
Yah, I totally agree. Fred Ban Fleet is struggling mightily with his agressiveness at this point in time...

I told Fred Can Sleet he needed to be more aggressive getting those waters!

I, for one, am not worried at all. Our freshmen are getting valuable on the job training right now and come March, we will be better for it. If this team doesn't make the Big Dance, I will shave my fro bro!

I am not worried at all either. This team still has the pieces. We just learned the hard way that we only have one even remotely decent PG right now. We are about to add 2 of those over the course of the next week. One is an all American and the other is a top 40 recruit who has the wichita scoring record.

Could you ask for a better cavalry?

Seem like WSU does recruit JUCO and has brought in JUCO all-americans. Case in point - Two Time NJCAA Player of the Year Cleanthony Early

I don't agree with this. WSU final 4 is chopped liver?

I agree WSU need to start winning. But WSU has gotten their immediate opponents to play them through a tournament. But I disagree that WSU start this year makes scheduling harder. Their success actually has made it harder to schedule from BCS conferences.

looking at WSU roster, I see WSU players coming from 14 different institutions.

I heard he was going to make them run a marathon in hopes of destroying all bad muscle memory.

Kind of what happens when you lose your all-american PG.

Maybe it's the adjustment to the 30 second clock. It seems like they are having some problems executing their plays in that amount of time.
You do understand WSU did lose their all-american PG?

I don't see the aggressiveness in Van Fleet that we saw his first two years when he would drive the lane and draw the foul.
That probably because he hurt his hamstring and played hurt at Tulsa and hasn't played since.

He's never been the same since he took that hard knock and got laid out on the floor from Kentucky in the NCAA regional's two years ago in St. Louis.
              Fred honors for 2014-15:
              a. Honorable-Mention AP All-American
              b. NABC 1st Team all-district 06
              c. 1st TEAM MVC
              d. MVC all-Defensive team
              e. MVC All-Tournament team
              f. Bob Cousy finalist for Nation Top Point Guard
              g. Lute Olson Finalist

NickGO1 obviously gets all his info from phognet and has watched very little if any WSU basketball. Nice to see some agrees with AARGH.

When looking at scoring, our four freshman are currently # 3, 4, 5, and 6 on the roster. If you remove injured players, they are 2, 3, and 4. That says some bad things about right now and some good things about the future.

Before all the injuries. We were supposedly going to sweep the valley and win the mvc tournament. Have those enthusiastic predictions subsided? Even after the Calvary shows? The injuries are what they are. And young players getting valuable experience. Which will hopefully make us deeper after the Calvary returns.

I hereby propose the creation of a Shockernet Penalty Box that can be used for offensive and irrational posters.

The multipurpose facility will also serve as a recreational area for Tyrone Shoelace and will be continuously supplied with all types of burritos. In addition, there will be an adjacent Air Biscuit Research Center staffed by scientists from NASA's Jet Propulsion laboratories.

                            • My analysis of how playing time and rotation will unfold once everyone is healthy and available.

Once healthy all meaningful minutes at the 1 & 2 will be filled by a combination of FVV, CF, and RB. If foul trouble requires it ZB may get a few minutes, but I think that will be rare. RB will also play a fair amount of time at 3, including starting games there. MM, ZB & EW will help as needed fill in the minutes at the 3 spot and it will vary game to game. I think 3G will start EW at the 4 though I would prefer MM and have EW available to come in with his flexibility as the first sub. RK, ZB and EH will also get time at 4. The 5 will be manned by BW, EH and maybe SM until AG gets back healthy. Personally I think we would be best served short and long term to get EH as many minutes as possible there because he gives us the best ability to score down low plus create match up problems by stretching the defense. SM can definitely score but like most people on this board, I think his motor will at best allow him to be a role player.

One of the biggest problems that hasn't been mentioned nearly as much as our guard play was the absence of any low post presense and the ability to score down low. AG was nonexistent in the 2 games prior to his injury. Thank God it looks like he will make a full recovery and I wish him well but I don't think he is the answer at the 5 spot for this team. I remember reading in the offseason how AG had disappeared last year in games against top level talent, maybe that was an indication. The guard problems will be solved when we are healthy (we were missing 3 of our 4 best ball handlers), but the post position remains troublesome at best.
