Landry Shamet Injured

To put Landry in the class of Ron and Fred is somewhat premature. Does he show some of the same positive traits as Fred and Ron? Absolutely. Has he performed at a similar level for an extended period? No. I think he has a tremendous potential but to put him in the NBA in a couple years, well, I'm not ready to go there.
Also, to repeat a thought raised earlier, we had Ron for a RS year 10 games before he went down. He was a known quantity with proven and critical value to that 2013 team.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Thanks for your assessment, phlash, but one of the guys who's been talking about Shamet as a player with the talent and makeup of LeFred and Ron is Marshall himself.
That doesn't make Shamet an NBA player, and it doesn't make him as much of a proven quantity as Baker was coming off his similar injury -- but it's enough to convince me that WSU will be a better team, and better equipped to make the big run we all want to see, with Landry available come late February and March (and April!) rather than without him.

Maybe it's time to summarize:
1. Landry's injury probably isn't truly "season-ending", which is a requirement to receive a medical hardship waiver.
2. This is Fred, Ron, Evan and Anton's last year. Why would Marshall not use all the weapons at his disposal?
3. There's reason to believe Landry wouldn't be here for a 5th year anyway.
I don't see how any of that leads one to reasonably think he won't return and play this season.
