Ron and Fred will be on the floor 38+ minutes a game, is it worth a year for 2 minutes a game for 6-10 games?
If/When Landry comes back he'll be playing more than 2 minutes a game. I know I've got the attention span of a primitive ant but I think people have forgotten how good he was playing before the injuries. Objectively, he was playing the most minutes of anyone not named Baker or Grady. Subjectively, he was one of our three best players early on.

    • To put Landry in the class of Ron and Fred is somewhat premature. Does he show some of the same positive traits as Fred and Ron? Absolutely. Has he performed at a similar level for an extended period? No. I think he has a tremendous potential but to put him in the NBA in a couple years, well, I'm not ready to go there.

Also, to repeat a thought raised earlier, we had Ron for a RS year 10 games before he went down. He was a known quantity with proven and critical value to that 2013 team.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

      • Thanks for your assessment, phlash, but one of the guys who's been talking about Shamet as a player with the talent and makeup of LeFred and Ron is Marshall himself.

That doesn't make Shamet an NBA player, and it doesn't make him as much of a proven quantity as Baker was coming off his similar injury -- but it's enough to convince me that WSU will be a better team, and better equipped to make the big run we all want to see, with Landry available come late February and March (and April!) rather than without him.

        • Man, does this thread need to die....and how in the heck did we start talking about a second medical redshirt year??

          • I wonder if he could even get a second medical redshirt year?

You've received your last bit of insider information, just for that comment.

              • Maybe it's time to summarize:

                1. Landry's injury probably isn't truly "season-ending", which is a requirement to receive a medical hardship waiver.
                2. This is Fred, Ron, Evan and Anton's last year. Why would Marshall not use all the weapons at his disposal?
                3. There's reason to believe Landry wouldn't be here for a 5th year anyway.

I don't see how any of that leads one to reasonably think he won't return and play this season.

But let's say he comes back this year. And then gets hurt again this year. Would he have to use 2 medical redshirts because of that, or just one?

These two comments together are a bit bothersome depending on the context of the unspoken words.

Come on, Doc -- Where have you been? There can't be a proper SN pall of gloom and doom without transcending the speculation about one debacle by moving on to another, even worse, hypothetical disaster.

                            • What if _kai_ injures the fingers on both his hands in a car door accident? Would he get a medical redshirt for the 2015-2016 posting season? Or has he typed to large of a percentage of the season already?

Dizzle supplies redshirts to Kohl's -- he likes to sell as many as possible.
