I'm taking it as my personal duty to prop Rashard up. In three games he is averaging 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist per game in 24 minutes. He is 0-3 from 3, but 3-3 from the stripe and 7-9 inside the arc. He has 1 TO on the year and plays relatively strong defense with 3 steals and a block, but 3 fouls per game. He's doing exactly what a sophomore starter should be doing.

Brown on the other hand is averaging more points and board per 40; 4 points and 3 rebounds in 12 mpg, but has only 1 assist and 4 TOs. He is 2-6 from the field and 0-3 from 3 but has hit 7-9 FTs. He has 1 steal and 2 blocks. He's not awful, but has failed to get into the flow of the game on both ends of the court.

I expect both will have a breakout game soon.

Uh that's Marshalls defense. The entire scheme. Way more than denying the post

If you don't want to pay attention to me, here's Suellentrop from 5 Nov, who has seen more practices than anybody including me:

The adjustment to WSU’s defense is a challenge for Grady, who blocked 47 shots last season and earned a spot on the Horizon League’s All-Defensive team. Cleveland State’s scheme allowed him to play a one-man zone, waiting in the lane to protect the basket. WSU’s big men are expected to defend on the perimeter and disrupt ball-handlers running off picks.

“If your man is out, you’re out,” Grady said. “I feel like I’m progressing and getting to it.”

Both Brown and Kelly are much better offensively when they don't hesitate. Usually when they pause before they make a play something bad happens.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with Kelly's improvement from last year. Not so much with Brown.

I read the article too. I've seen Grady play in games (not practice) and thus far I would characterize him as a good, not great defender in Marshall's schemes, with which I am also quite familiar.

Regarding Mr. Grady. I would like to see at least 5 to 6 times a game where he receives the ball within 4 feet of the basket. His footwork in the lane is really, really good. Outside of Ron I haven't seen anyone really look for him. Hopefully with Fred's healthy return and Conner's eligibility this will improve. Our other big men would do well to emulate his moves.

Pretty solid first half of ball. Second half sucked. Crowd also sucked but can't say I blame them too much.

FVV is clearly the missing link here. We're now to the point of complaining about 25 point blowouts not being good enough without our senior all-american point guard. Fanbase is getting a bit spoiled and a bit annoying, but again, we definitely aren't a Top 10 team right now. And it's understandable.

We need to get some fire and get pissed off. Everybody looks low-keyed, lackadaisical, and just going through the motions. Our front court must get better. As well as our rebounding.

Baker is such a warrior. He deserves an outstanding senior year and his supporting cast should be going crazy to help him.

We have the potential to be really good when everything clicks. But as it's being reiterated by several players in several different articles, FVV is the valuable missing link and is missed big time by the team.

Let's hope he's ready to go on Thanksgiving. We're gonna need him.

This was a game of two halfs, the first half I felt we played a pretty solid half especially the last 15minutes. Ty Taylor gave us a spark hitting a few threes and our defense played solid. Second half not so good, but I think we were trying to give alot of people some playing time and I thought we really didnt get in a good flow which can happen when your working alot of freshmen into the line-up. Ron playeds his usual solid game and I thought Taylor played real well. Shamet had some nice moments and I feel Kelly had some good moments also in limited time. Grady had his worst game offensively, he missed some chip shots he usually would hit but I still like his offensive game. Some people think his defense isnt up too par but I think we shouldn't be comparing him to Darius Carter or Carl Hall. Physically he is different, but he can still be effective. Were going to have to be patitent with this group, after the starting five we have alot of sophmores and freshmen.Get Fred healthy and Conner playing and I think we will see a big difference. Were going to be good, and in time I think real good. And hey how bout them Panthers.

First half looked good, but we hit a ton of threes. I really thought/hoped we'd pound it inside since we were playing an undersized D2 team, but really never did. Our offense stalls when we don't at least pass it to the post.

Our bench isn't ready right now. They're young and early practices probably don't build much confidence.

We don't really have a backup PG. With FVV hurt, we have to use our AA SG to fill in for the AA PG. So, FVV is out and Baker is playing out of position at PG. An injury to FVV is the one thing most capable of slowing the Shox this year. We probably need to be prepared for FVV to not be 100% for the entire season. Remember when Jamar Howard tweaked his back in the pre-season and didn't appear to be 100% the entire season? Injuries don't tend to get better with 2 games a week.

I have the feeling that the Fr and So's, with the exception of Shamet and Taylor, are suffering from some lack of confidence right now and might be thinking instead of just playing because of that. That problem goes away as we get further into the season.

Could be a disappointing OOC result this year. I think by the time league play rolls around, the addition of CF and the maturation of the Fr and So's will start turning things around.

I think Marshall was more interested in getting PT for some guys and checking them out under various circumstances than he was in racking up a big margin of victory over an overmatched opponent. I'm not concerned about the second half results against ESU. The inability to run an offense against a zone (Tulsa) and the lack of D on the perimeter (Tulsa) are things that indicate our expectations may be a bit high.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
