I'll take a victory by any margin and will be thrilled with it. Road games are hard. Road games against Top 50 teams are really hard. Road games against Top 50 teams without our All-American are extraordinarily tough.

    WSU 74
    Tulsa 70

If FVV plays and is FVV, 74-61 WSU. If not, 70-65, WSU.

Q: Why can't Tulsa players use the Internet?
        A: Because they can't put 3 W's together

        www.goshockers.com - 76
the webpage cannot be found - 70

If FVV's ankle is more than just a tweak, then he probably won't play. Otherwise, he should be able to get it taped up and be ready to go. The hamstring is probably more of a concern than the tweaked ankle.

We have the best recruiting class we've ever had joining the best senior class we've ever had. Between those two outliers is a group who is arguably the other best recruiting class we've had (at least recently) filling out the bench.

This team will beat a really good Tulsa team on the road by double digits.

I think this team will have very few close games. We are that good.

Good news and bad news. Bad news is losing 76-73 and discovering our freshmen, except
LS, are a little over hyped. Good news is that an early loss could be good for us in the long
run as the team stops reading all the predictions / headlines and SN. Then everyone
gets their heads on straight and we become a better basketball team.

I will even take a 1-point win because this is an important road win we really need in the grand scheme of the big picture for this Season. A loss would not be the end of the world because Tulsa is very good and will have a very nice Season. Even so, not much slack is given to our Program for any loss and it would be grand to see our road warriors pull this one out with a victory, with or without Fred. This could be a closer one than my prediction but I still say we win 68-61.

That is a very difficult call to make in the absence of any solid inside information on the extent and status of Fred's injuries. I do think that 3G will be conservative with Fred and will instruct his training staff to take a conservative approach as well.

I agree that if there is any doubt at all about his fitness to play then he should be held out.

If he doesn't play against Tulsa it might make sense to hold him out against Emporia State as well although maybe getting him 10 minutes just to help him get back in the flow might be okay. Again, 3G would have to believe Fred was totally fit at that point.

The 1979 recruiting class was the best we ever had. Antoine Carr, Cliff Levingston, Ozell Jones, James Gibbs, Randy Smithson, Mike Jones and others. I do think this is Coach Marshall's best recruiting class!

Has anyone heard any information on Fred's injuries? I haven't heard anything yet. There is always a chance that a hamstring will be re-injured. But he may have been 100% healed before the Charleston game. We just don't know. These injuries often heal in a short time with young kids. The ankle was injured earlier but just because he had injured his ankle earlier, it doesn't mean that the earlier injury had anything to do with the new one. Sometimes, bad luck happens that is beyond anyone's control.

If the players are reading predictions and headlines or looking at SN, then they have too much time on the hands and should use that time for either school work or spending time in the gym to improve their game.

This comment by Pual Suellentrop is the only thing I have heard or read about Fred:

There is no doubt this is a dangerous game for the Shockers, made even more so by VanVleet’s hamstring/ankle problems. It’s good news that his hamstring felt good enough to play on Friday. It’s bad news he made it only three minutes before suffering a minor ankle sprain.

Excellent class! How about 1981? Xavier McDaniel, Aubrey Sherrod, Greg Dreiling.

                                All three were Top 50.
Another excellent class. One more that Smithson had was Steve Grayer (Top 100), and the Praylow Twins (Top 150ish). Also just missed on two other Top 100 Dozier Twins who were 6'10 in that class.
