    Update from Sully:

The outlook is good for Wichita State senior guard Fred VanVleet to play on Tuesday at Tulsa.

Coach Gregg Marshall said VanVleet practiced on Sunday afternoon, competing in about half the session before he sat out when soreness became a factor. The ninth-ranked Shockers are scheduled to practice again Monday afternoon before leaving for Tulsa.

I still say sit Fred. Let him dress and keep him warm, but don't play him unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. If we can win without him, then let him heal until Orlando.

Maybe not but if some people are saying that this is a 100% sure thing, they are crazy. Tulsa has a good team and this game is on the road. If Fred plays, I feel good about it, but if Fred doesn't I feel less good.

Tulsa is still a good team and it is on the road. I feel good about it but we do need Fred if it is possible. We don't have the information to make these decisions. We do have a good coach and I'm confident in him making the decision.

If Fred is going to play he needs to from the start. You don't want him cooling on the bench and the risk reinjuring the hammie.

This is a road game against a Top 50 team. A loss would have minimal impact on our RPI. A month without Fred, Orlando without Fred, would have much more impact. I'm sure Gregg and the training staff will fully evaluate Fred's readiness and make the proper decision.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I wouldn't want him cooling either, but I'd have him on a bike behind the bench or in the tunnel or whatever. There are ways to keep him warm without being on the floor. I said that elsewhere, but forgot to add it to my comment here. I wouldn't want him playing unless needed. I've got faith that 3G and his crew will make the right decision, I'm just saying what I would do. Im not in practice or talking to the trainers to know all the details, nor am I making 3 mil a year to make those decisions.

Baker is a much better PG than he showed against CSU. He's probably been practicing PG more this week than he did prior to CSU. I doubt Taylor can actually set up or run the offense, but when on the court, he can be the offense.

Even without VanVleet, we start 3 Sr's. We start 3 guys who know the "Road Warrior" lifestyle. Eventually every team has to bring in some subs. We bring Hamilton, Brown, and Morris off the bench. Those guys will dominate a lot of opponent's second units, or any tired front line players.

Try stopping Grady one-on-one. Try doubling him with Wessel, Shamet, and Baker on the court. Even without Fred, the Shox have enough weapons to take out a top-50 team on the road.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I watched the Tulsa vs Central AR game, they definitely have a couple salty guards in Woodard who scored 23 and Harrison who had 22. Tulsa pressured the point and wings which lead to several steals for easy buckets. I think we will take much better care of the ball. They played 8-9 guys with meaningful minutes. I like our 12-13 man battering ram to wear them down. Our weight room beats their weight room. Their fan turnout was poor, I'm going to assume they'll turnout mucho better for our game. This leads to my "key" of the game, our great fan support storming their castle will make the difference. Safe travels Shocker fans.

I could be way off here but I thought JRS played outstanding against CSU. he handled the ball well. Made sharp passes. Only took open shots. And directed the floor well. If we can count on that play out of him every game I don't see why he can't put in 25-28 minutes at the point against Tulsa, I feel very confident with the team in his hands, he looked sharp.

Honestly the first game impressed me immensley. If FVV does not play I expect the shockers to win by 15. If he plays I expect a 20 point win with FVV playing no more then 22 minutes.
