Honestly the first game impressed me immensley. If FVV does not play I expect the shockers to win by 15. If he plays I expect a 20 point win with FVV playing no more then 22 minutes.
JRS has made tremendous improvement in his time at WSU (that's what playing against FVV every day in practice will do to you), but I'm not sure he's a 25-28 minute guy. Now if you said that you thought JRS and TT could handle it for 25-30 minutes with Ron handling the rest, I would agree with you.

With that said, JRS has some swagger to him now on the court.

Even without VanVleet, we start 3 Sr's. We start 3 guys who know the "Road Warrior" lifestyle. Eventually every team has to bring in some subs. We bring Hamilton, Brown, and Morris off the bench. Those guys will dominate a lot of opponent's second units, or any tired front line players.

Try stopping Grady one-on-one. Try doubling him with Wessel, Shamet, and Baker on the court. Even without Fred, the Shox have enough weapons to take out a top-50 team on the road.
Exactly. Our team is deep. We may have some losses this season but I'm not going through this year hedging my bets at every hint of a tough game. This team has the experience AND the talent AND the depth. Those things are almost always used as opposites when comparing teams.

When this team loses, it will infrequent and it won't be season defining. Tulsa may be one of those nigits but I'm expecting this team to win every game they play in and I'm expecting a deeper run in March than last year. You have to be able to string together multiple top 50 wins to even do what we are all expecting this team to do. The first potentially top 50 team on the schedule is not an obvious loss or even an obvious struggle. If it is, like someone else mentioned, we aren't who we think we are.

Shocks win 82-76 JR Simon comes off the bench to score 20.
Kick 'em square in the grapes! (that can be very painful)

I am sure about JRS. He's not.

We ARE who we think we are but that in its self does not translate into victories every game.
There is a lot of talent spread out among even the top 80 teams and Tulsa has some very
good players. It's going to be a grind and will be against quite a few of our opponents. THAT
is what makes college basketball so interesting. Win or lose I think we will learn more
tonight about four or five of our younger guys.

I think it will be a great game that is in doubt for 3/4 of the game, but the terrible foul calling will catch up with Tulsa and ruin it. If we are destined for another 60 foul game, I like the way it slows the game down for athletic freshman to hang a little better. We seem to be a good free throw shooting team this year so far.

I guess coach Marshall has been having the team practice those this year after all. Is that a new thing he's doing? Better make a note to ask him that next coach's show...

Coach, my name is Hans, and I noticed Ty Taylor the Second's shot is a little flat. I've got this great tape from the 80's called Buns of Steel. I think it could really give Ty that extra lift in the tushy and help him dial in that free throw shot. Could you speak to the Buns of Steel workout program and possibly autograph my inner thigh? Thanks, Hans out!

I vaguely remember hearing something like this as well, but have zero recollection of any details.

Yes and the NCAA suspended him for five games during his brief tenure at Missouri for his activities while head coach at Miami.
