  • FWIW the announcers of the game said that they thought that the Shockers were in but that Monmouth was ahead of the Shockers. I just don't see how they would be ahead of the Shocks.

They are media darlings this year.

Yes, I doesn't look like it has been updated yet for tonight loss. From different Real-time updates it looks like Monmouth RPI drops 5 spots with tonight loss

They sure are, which is why I think they're ahead of us in the pecking order. Their bench shenanigans are going a long way plus the older basketball community (those who make the bracket decisions) still are under the impression that beating UCLA is a "good win".

If they're "way out" like certain people think, then we're on our way to the NIT.

Warren Nolan has them now down to 52, and of course and extra top 100 loss.

They're similar to WSU in the same context at which the CBS mouth-breathers speak, but there are some differences.

In Kenpom, WSU is 11, Monmouth is 66

                WSU has loses to RPI 24, 32, 45, 51, 70 (x2), 76, and 119.
                Monmouth has loses to RPI 21, 45, 86 (x2), 222, 212, and 226.

                • Noncon SoS is not good either for them as they rolled out some real turds after their tough games.

If all they consider is Top 50 W-L record, let's just play it safe and not schedule anyone and be 0-0; I mean hey, that's better than 1-4

See, I can make stats work for me too.

Plus their bench is all the rave now for some reason, and that kind of publicity looks good to the NCAA.
If the committee wanted to focus on home/road records we would stop seeing middling BCS teams getting bids. If Monmouth gets in it is only because of their bench mob, no other reason.

I would be interested to see if a non-P5 school has ever gotten an at-large bid with a 50+ RPI.

                      That reasoning is flawed.

                      Sorry, but it is.

                        You're trying really hard here.

Monmouth holds the PR Trump card against the school that has gone F4, 35-1, and S16 the past three seasons?

                        You can't be serious.

                        • I wonder how far Valpo's RPI will drop from 39, after their semifinal loss to #138 Green Bay.

If I knew that was what it took I would've paid for JR Simon and Zach Bush to take Salsa lessons.

                            • FWIW, maybe my memory is bad but I don't remember people here defending us in 2010 and 2011 like they are now. Of course no one here is on the committee, but we realistically didn't have a shot either of those two years while this year we do. While we're all fans, a lot of people here are realists as well, so this is keeping my hopes high (despite what some of the "experts" say)

Are you seriously comparing 2010 and 2011 resumes and situations to 2016?

Good Lord, that's not a good comparison. Not even close. I'll go ahead and let Jamar do the dirty work, if he's so inclined.
