  • Well, I don't think UNI is consistent enough to stay a "good win" for our purposes. Thankfully I think we completely dominate the MVC and end up with a good enough record anyways.

That's the plan. Need it to get healthy.

      • By the power invested in me, I hearby revoke the name "Missouri State" and award it to the team from SE Missouri. The school from Springfield shall now be called Southwest Missouri State of the Ozarks.

          Seriously?

I gave up on ridiculing Missouri State, it was too easy, but this is ridiculous!

Casey needs to explain this one. I mean, SEMO? I thought SMS was going to the Sun Belt, not SEMO.
I have a couple of thoughts on this one. Firstly, when we beat Okie Lite on the road a few weeks ago, ain't nobody on here mocking us for flirting with another conference. So let's be fair on that one.

But we are pretty bad. I'm not a basketball guy, but some knowledgeable folks I have talked to both inside and outside of the AD insist that this is the most talented team since 2011. They are very young though and the coaching is not great if we are being honest. Losing to SEMO is embarrassing no question about it. I do believe that SEMO is better than their record though. They have a great coach and will turn things around in the next few years. I think that we need a new coach in Springfield. I don't like advocating for someone's dismissal because there are families involved and he has been nothing but a great representative for the school and community off the court. However, it is becoming abundantly clear that we must go in a new direction. My hope is that we can find someone that can keep the promising underclassmen and try and build on that.

Really SEMO is better than their record? They have only kept two games within double digits and one of those is Missouri St. They lost to a SWAC team on the road by 18. They lost to Rio Grande Valley by 9, that is Rio Grande Valley's only division 1 win and the only other game besides MSU they didn't lose by double digits. If this is the most talented team since 2011, you have real problems.

Umm, we were still mocking you after the Oklahoma State win, just not as loudly because it's an old song. One upset against a mediocre Big 12 team does not change anything.

As for changing coaches, read your own board, you guys are screwed. You can't afford to fire Lusk, so he will be your coach next year- and probably the year after, too! It sucks when you talk about moving up when you can't even afford to keep up with where you are. MissouriState would have been much further ahead had their fans realized what they were, accepted it and given Barry a raise and kept him. Your loss is the Salukis gain!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Then that means Lusk is the worst coach in college basketball. If you truly have the most talented team since 2011 and this is the product you all put on the court, that's beyond sad. I'd ask for my money back from him. Run him out of town.

And SEMO is not better than their record, don't kid yourself. Their best loss on the year is a 9 point loss. 9 points! Prior to the game with MSU, the closest they got was 9 points.

                      • Way back when, there was this thing called Valley Talk. The Bears had a good coach named Barry Hinson. Bears fans were dillusional, they thought that they were too good for Hinson, they thought the NCAA's were their birthright. I tried to warn them. I tried reasoning, I tried compassion, I even showed statistically how Barry was a good coach. Their fans, glm, troutangler, beeline and the gang, harrassed me. So I went thermonuclear. I brought in pro rasslin, I broght in transvestites, I brought in porn, and yes, I brought in the MIDGETS!!! Smetimes I brought in midget porn, and sometimes I brought in midget rasslin. I even brought in the midget Kiss band.

Fast forward to today, Valley Talk died. It was run by a Missouri State guy, I kid not. Barry was fired, then hired by SIU. All he has done is turned that program around. And Missouri State basketball has yet to get back to the NCAA's and has sunk to its lowest point in history. Everything I predicted came to life! And............

                        • Oh, and Missouri State wants to be the Sbockers rival. They do whiteouts, they put countdown clocks on their website, they print tee shirts.

                          Pathetic!

With all due respect, it is comedy of the highest order to suggest that Barry was or is the current answer. He is a truly great man. I find it incredibly difficult to criticize him due to this fact. But it was time for him to go. And he isn't the answer now either. Is he an upgrade over the current guy? Yeah, I think so. Almost certainly. That really isn't saying much though. I am thrilled that he is having success in Carbondale. I wish him all the success in the world, save for two games each year. But it wasn't a mistake to let him go.

And to correct you on another point: I don't care what is said on BearNation, barring something crazy happening in the next three months Paul Lusk is gone at season's end. Very possibly a new individual will be selecting the next coach too. This stuff about him coming back and not wanting to pay the buyout is being leaked from people inside the AD. The simple fact of the matter is that the decision maker(s) in this case are the one(s) above the AD. If Paul somehow wins a lot of games in the new year then things could change. The only other thing that could change the equation is if several of our biggest donors decide that it isn't a go. And the latest I have heard is that they are no longer in the Lusk corner either.
