He answered neither why, nor referenced any elite.

I don't know about Kenpom's predictions, but Illinois State at home would be a 10+ point dog against every team in Sagarin's top 15.

VCU has lost twice to teams with losing records.

Are you sure you want to use those 2 teams as shining examples of never having a bad night?
I have watched Valpo play several games this year and while they barely pulled out their last 2 games they won in tough road environments. They lost only 1 home game and they should have won that blew a late lead in the final seconds. Did you know it is tough to win on the road ? Many teams have lost on the road to teams that are not sniffing the NIT. Valpo has a guy in Alec Peters who can take over a game and this team is very seasoned who came close to an upset last year in the big dance and if they get into the tournament and get the right draw could easily win a game or two. They won at Oregon State which by the way is something Oregon, Uah, California, Colorado and USC all could not do. They barely lost at Oregon one of the top teams in the nation.

So ya they lost 4 games to non NIT teams so I guess they suck and shouldn't make the tournament. You know who else lost to a few non NIT teams ? Wisconsin lost at home to Western Illinois and at home to wait for it...Milwaukee a team Valpo beat twice and they lost to G'Town who won't make the NIT and they lost to Marquette and Northerwestern.

Miami FL lost at home to Northeastern and at NC State and at Clemson and they will be getting a 2 or 3 seed.

You have a better chance of losing 4 games to non NIT teams when you play non NIT teams every game and half of them on the road. Being a Wichita State fan you more than any should understand the struggles mid majors have in trying to schedule up it sure is a lot easier to lose 3-4 games vs non NIT teams when you play 25 of them then a team who only has to play 10 of them.

and illinois state would upset a few of them. they already proved that by beating the one and only arguable top-15 team they played in normal. did you know that illinois state beat a really good, proven, big balls, tough team in normal?

dan mueller is crying out for a punch in face, yes, but they did hang pretty tough at maryland and kentucky. they are not a bad team. but i'll agree with coach marshall anyway: the valley is underrated. wichita state, illinois state, evansville and uni- pretty decent foursome.

            • Atlantic Sun tournament is getting interesting. #7 seed Stetson is about to go to the championship game. #4 seed FGCU leads #1 seed North Florida by 26 points with 15 minutes left. Assuming FGCU hangs on this sets up a wild championship game situation. If Stetson wins the A-Sun championship then North Florida would go to the NCAA tournament as the A-Sun rep because Stetson is ineligible.

Why is Stetson ineligible? I have never heard of them actually.

Stetson, which opened practice Oct. 5 and begins its season at Richmond on Nov. 15, is one of four programs which received a one-year postseason ban from the NCAA for failing to clear the minimum Academic Progress Report bar of 930 points, along with Alcorn State and repeat offenders Florida A&M and Central Arkansas.
