If I buy 20 tickets, I will pay $200 to print them off in my house on my printer...
When I pay my water bill on the wichita city website, their fee is $1.00

The convenience fee thing isn't about the convenience of the arena. It's about the convenience to you. If it is inconvenient for you to purchase tickets directly at the place they are being sold, then you'll pay for it. This isn't new and not sole to the ticketing industry. It's an area where they pad the bottom line for the ticketing agency who doesn't have as large of margins when selling it without the fees. Thankfully, unlike other forms of purchasing things, you have an option to avoid it. It may be inconvenient for you, but there is an option. And if you don't live in Sedgwick County and grumpy about the distance, at least you didn't have the burden of paying an additional sales tax for 3 years and still access the arena.
I think the fees get a little crazy too but at least you have the option to avoid them. It just depends how convenient it is or isn't for you and whether the cost outweighs the inconvenience.
Same rant every year.Deuces Valley.

It's kind of like when I'm shopping on eBay and find a book for $0.50 but the shipping is $25.00

I think the amount they charge is ridiculous. I don't object to convenience fees being added, but they should be more reasonable, IMHO. I did pony up this time as I wanted certain seats, they were available, and I was afraid they wouldn't be there by the time I got to IBA in the late afternoon.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

I purchased 2 tickets on Day 1 (not a season ticket holder, please don't hate) after guessing the code but didn't complete the order online because my $47 tickets ended up having an additional $25-$30 (can't remember exactly) in taxes & fees. Since I work about 3 minutes away, I hopped in my car, drove to the ticket office instead where there was no line & was more than happy to avoid the fees. They didn't bother asking for the code either. As others have suggested, a cap on the # of tickets you can purchase would likely eliminate/curb this problem. I don't plan on ever buying season tickets since most games are beatdowns & we're in a crappy conference so I try to get a great seat to the games I want to go to.
