I believe the Shocks receive a flat dollar amount (as well does Utah) simply for playing in the game, but then IBA and SMG share the burden of filling the arena, staffing the event, and selling enough concessions to cover costs. It's not WSU's event. Similar to the Advocare Classic the Shocks will play in November. The venue has elected to have all seats as general admission. Your high or no SASO contribution gets you the same seats. Not sure how KU handles their annual game in Kansas City, but my guess is that it's similar in that season ticket holders are not given absolute control over seating.

WSU is trying to look out for season ticket holders at the IBA games, to an extent, by working with IBA to allow for a season ticket holder presale, but as mentioned, the arena just wants to sell all the tickets and make enough money to cover what they are paying WSU and Utah, and still turn a profit. SASO contribution and longevity points are still valued by WSU, just with non home games, it's tricky. If IBA doesn't care enough to ask people for their codes at the ticket window, I'm not sure how this could be called "theft".
Asking for and receiving the codes online would be unfairly jumping people in line who have faithfully supported the university and athletic department over an extended period of time.

I doubt too many people showed up at the ticket window just hoping they wouldn't be asked for the code.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I guess I disagree. It's a third party venue. I don't necessarily agree season ticket holders should be given first dibs on the 11,000 best seats. The idea behind IBA is to sell more tickets (15,000 vs 10,000) then Koch, bring in larger quality teams (teams that don't want to play in the great atmosphere that is Koch Arena), expose more media coverage through ESPN, and expand Shocker basketball. Season ticket holders by definition have a lock on games at Koch. I have more complaints about that than the one game at IBA. There's a guy on craigslist selling 2 season tickets for $9,500. Road and Neutral site games give the non-season ticket holder (but many are just as loyal) the opportunity to catch a game in person. I don't think fans trying to do what they can to get tickets are cheating or being unfair to "people in line who have faithfully supported the university and athletic department." I think WSU and IBA need to get rid of this 4 day, tiered pre-sale process they have had the last few years and open it up. If they want a one day pre-sale for all season ticket holders the day before, then that would work much better than this 4 day thing.

      • At 10:00 this morning only lower bowl corner seats available. Nothing in the $102, $65, $47, etc sections. Had to buy the $27 tickets and I guess I am grateful that I at least got those. I am in Sec 111.

        • I snagged one of my favorite spots, second row of the upper deck in the $12 zone, section 212 I believe. Well, actually $21 each once all the "convenience" fees were added in. First few rows of the upper deck, either on the side or in the corners are pretty good seats at a great price. Glad I was able to get them! Tickets are moving fast.

            Several thoughts:
            1) At one time this game was a part of the season ticket package. The first year we played Tulsa, it was. Then they dropped the game from the package but prices didn't drop accordingly. We just received first chance to buy tickets at the IBA game yearly.
2)if the Shockers were not very good this would not be a problem.
            3) I agree that big donors should be given something to thank them. Charles Koch deserves a chance at several tickets for his contributions. lol

No. The NCAA considers it a home game for WSU. In fact I believe WSU needs to have a game at IBA to help them to get the opportunity to host NCAA tournament in Wichita (at IBA).

I am a free market guy, but I sure would like to see WSU exercise their free market abilities and tell whomever is doing that they are no longer needed as a supporter.

Anyone with the bones to order early doesn't need to make 100 on 10 tickets.

This is the reason the 4 day tiered pre-sale needs to go. Nothing positive at all about this.

I realize the NCAA for RPI issues considers it a home game. I was referring to the finance/economics of the deal. WSU and Utah both receive flat fees from a promoter to play the game. WSU doesn't have control over ticket prices, doesn't make all the money off concessions, etc. Thus, IBA and the promoter don't care about season ticket holders, but making cold hard cash.

                        Aggravating.

I'm guessing it was not even a SASO member. Like Doc said, the people who make up the 75%-100% percentile ranges in SASO Priority Points don't need to bother themselves to that degree to make a grand. Like every other year preceding, it does not exactly require MI5 skills to get and abuse the code and presale system. Needs serious overhaul, or it just needs to go.

                          • How about doing a presale in person only the evening before they go public. Could make for one great Shocker party on the plaza at IBA!
