I'm sure, like Marshall, he gets the best players he can get, sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. He took a team that started Connor Teahan to the NC game for crying out loud.
Nobody other than a diehard KU fan would remember any of that. Their bandwagon Walmart t-shirt fans wouldn't even have known that crap.
Man, slight Bill Self and KU on a WSU message board and they're really starting to come out from behind the woodwork now.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

How can a coach be considered a helluva recruiter when you're recruiting to a "franchise" type program????? 5 star players choice on where their "supposed" to go to college are already set up for them (aau, shoe contracts, etc.) since the 5th grade and those players are guided (forced) to choose between Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, Bubble U. and one or two more.
Bill Self recruits against maybe 5 or 6 other coaches and programs. The talent pool of incoming freshmen around the country to continually support the above mentioned "franchises" is there every year. Cream of the crop. Easy-capeasee.
It's not like there are only 6 or seven players in the country worthy and available to sign at one of those franchises where competition for a particular recruit is fierce. It may look like it....but there are still enough unbelievably talented players right behind the one you lose to Kentucky. There's enough 5-star talent to fill all the roster spots at those 6 or 7 franchise universities.
I'm not saying he doesn't have to work (a little bit) at recruiting but obviously things fall into his lap simply by coaching at a "franchise".
Geez...I mean can you imagine Gregg Marshall coaching at Bubble U. His first thought after one day on the job would be...."Well...this just got a whole helluva lot easier."FINAL FOURS:

I think your statement is ludicrous. BS's winning percentage is on par with Mike Krzyzewski's. You might think BS is a mediocre coach, but most people in the country do not. Facts do matter.

How come Kentucky doesn't have problems choking in the early rounds of the tournament then?
If you're bitching and complaining about your precious 5-star boys leaving early, then stop recruiting them. You want the luxury of all-American burger boys but don't want the side effects that come with them. Boo freaking hoo. Your school and coach should adjust accordingly then.
It's crazy the amount of KU lurkers that are now absorbed with this site. I guess that's what feeling threatened and 78-65 will do to a fanbase.Last edited by ShockerFever; August 27, 2015, 03:36 PM.Deuces Valley.

To me, they didn't look the part as well then as they do now. They've grown into it VERY well, but Zach looks the part."In God we trust, all others must bring data." - W. Edwards Deming
