I was reading the condescending drivel on the KU board. If that is a true representation of their fan base, they have a huge insecurity problem.
They said if Gotlieb had any sense he wouldn't of even bothered with the story and that he isn't very well liked amongst wsu fans. When in reality they bit the troll bait just as hard as Gotleib did and they are about as popular amongst wsu fans as Gotleib is.

Does anybody watch that crap show on that crap station anymore?

      I'm sorry for you.

If BSO is Black Sports Online, shouldn't they be all over what Jeff ******* is claiming, that Levelle Moton has interviewed at Iowa State? Ames, Iowa isn't exactly the first place one would think to look for a black head coach, so this seems like news to me.

If it wasn't for Iowa St. fans I would root for the Cyclones if Moton were the head coach. He's classy.

ISU is hiring Murray State's Steven Prohm. Story broke about an hour ago.

I've been following the CycloneFanatic forum a little bit, and there was a common refrain that ISU's AD didn't want to dish out a lot of cash for the Hoiberg replacement. Prohm would seem to fit that narrative. Not that Prohm isn't a very promising high-level college coach prospect, but I'm guessing he was had for not a ton of coin. It is kind of weird to go cheap on the next coach for your school's premier sport, when the program is already in pretty solid shape. Guess it saves them money so they can pour more of it into their putrid, Mountain West level (if that) football program and all.

I don't know the number, but if you are right and he wasn't terribly expensive, then I think I would understand. Prohm may have been at a better spot than Winthrop (I'm about to make a Marshall comparison), but he was also in one of those spots where you can be practically undefeated and have a top 30 RPI and then get a 10 seed or something worse...like getting bumped to the NIT. This year was a prime example, although the RPI wasn't so hot. He may feel pretty ready to coach somewhere that stuff like that doesn't happen. Even still, I'm sure it is going to be a raise on some level. I can't wait to see Iowa State win some Big 12 titles. I all of the sudden have more of a vested interest in the Big 12 race next season. It's hard not to pull for this guy.

It is impossible to quantify the dumbfookery that runs rampant like the black plague over at phog.net.

The new narrative over there after the Prohm to ISU news is: "Ohhhh... lookie... Greggggg Marshallllll wasn't hired or interviewed by Iowa State... what a loser!" There is not a single poster as far as I can tell that bothered to notice that the CycloneInsider Marshall to ISU troll post was, well, a troll. Nearly the entire forum took the bait hook, line, and sinker. It is utterly hilarious!

You really couldn't make up a better narrative to portray an entire fanbase as total, incompetent, factually-challenged fooktards. It is palpable.

Phog.net is really a bunch of Johnson County middle schoolers.

Good grief I guess. My opinion has never been high on that place - they are generally front-running a-holes but they can at times make rational arguments - however at this point I'm honestly just sitting back pointing my finger and audibly laughing at them. The funny thing is NONE of them how any idea how ridiculous they look right now.

Yep, the comment that Wichita State University is essentially a small JUCO was telling. Many posters on Phog.net are living in a fantasy world. The word delusional comes to mind.

And they are completely obsessed with Gregg Marshall. Funny that.

Some gems from phog.net. These are primarily from posters with THOUSANDS of posts, not low post count nitwits.

From the thread reacting to the Prohm hire:

Oh, Gregggg gets ejected by the Clones! Not ready for prime time! Burn!
                        Lol +1
Not as sexy and Hornacek or Marshall, but could actually end up being pretty good.
Looks like a very good hire though not as splashy as Hornacek or Marshall.
                        Wut happened to Gregggg
Gregggg M didn't make the cut.

From the thread announcing the troll tweet that Marshall was interviewing with ISU:

Seems like a perfect storm of KU hate building up here.

Only positives are the reactions from the frankamps and the dooshbag Wichita st fans. Back to mediocrity for you shockers, lol
I hope Marshall does the right thing and takes the Iowa State gig...
Great opportunity for Gregg. Would not be surprised to see him take the job. I think there is mutual interest.
I think he has a serious interest and believe he reached out to ISU.
Let me know when we get to flight tracking stage. I'm ready to go.
Greg Marshall is obsessed with KU and Bill Self. After beating us in the dance there is no doubt that already large head is even larger and he thinks he will be able to dominate with ISU. Part of me hopes he takes it so we can take him to the woodshed 2-3 times a season but another part of me respects the ISU program and Marshall being there will force me to hate them completely.

Pretty poor move to not go after the Texas or Florida job but consider the ISU job of all places.
If it is just a rumor wouldn't gregg say so and spare himself another declination by another school? That is why I think there are legs to this story. Gregg wouldn't let the media dangle his name out there after renegotiating his contract if there wasn't something to this story.

So, I was curious and had a peek at Iowa State's storied basketball history.

                          - They've been to precisely one Final Four - in 1944.
                          - It took them 41 years after that to make it back to the Dance at all.
                          - Counting the Big 8 AND Big 12, they have a grand total of 6 conference regular season championships and five conference tournament championships, and two of the latter were the last two seasons.

Basically, they have Georges Niang and USED to have Fred Hoiberg. Now, Niang is talented enough to make them a contender by himself, especially in an underachieving conference such as the Big 12, but I don't get all of the media love for "Hilton Magic" other than the well-established cabal that is: Major Conference + Media With Big TV Contracts.

Then again, that's it, isn't it. Literally the ONLY thing that Iowa State people can brag on to us is that they're in the Big 12.

Maybe Gregg just wants to give all the Big 12 coaches at least a few years to see if they can win a Big 12 title instead of KU.

Or like, 20 years. Oh wait, KSUerrrrr Titletown shared one this millenia. Props to thou.

Effing Big 12.... All ****ing talk.
Iowa State is to the B12 what Creighton was to the MVC and currently is to the NBE. All hat no cattle in both cases.

Here's the reality they would never acknowledge. Bill Self would contribute to Gregg's salary at WSU to keep him out of the Big 12. Bruce Weber and the other 9 dwarfs would do the same to avoid the a$$-beating they would get 2-3x per year if GM were at Iowa State. Rack him!

Iowa State is to the B12 what Kansas State is to the B12. A mid-major that has ridden the coat tails of their peers for decades and the only thing they use their status for is talking down about teams that are way better than them in lesser conferences. A coaching change has caused K-State to shut their mouths and I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened with Iowa State.
