Honestly, I feel bad for him. It is obvious he reads Shockernet. I don't want him to hate it here. I just want him to leave the dark side and decide he likes WSU the most.

I edited my post. It was not intended for Kunkel. I just didn't read far enough before I posted it.

              Cool.
I don't mind seeing this at all. It's one of the more humorous things that has come up here in quite a while. I needed a good laugh.

                  ****ing win something Iowa St....

Maybe Gregg just wants to give all the Big 12 coaches at least a few years to see if they can win a Big 12 title instead of KU.

Or like, 20 years. Oh wait, KSUerrrrr Titletown shared one this millenia. Props to thou.

Effing Big 12.... All ****ing talk.

The current state of "journalism" in this country is absolutely hilarious to me. In an I-laugh-so-I-don't-cry sort of way.

If I make two Twitter accounts and pay $5 for a hundred fake followers for each, I could gain traction on any sports-related story I want, because there are always idiots out there so desperate to get their names in print that they'll run any story they can claim has a source.

It's actually not a bad idea. Who wants to join me in systematically destroying whatever is left of Gottlieb's career by getting him to chase after nonsense stories, one after another, for the next year? I'll post a ridiculous non-story, a couple of you retweet it at Gottlieb, bingo bango bongo, hilarity ensues.

I like taking a jab at Gottlieb -- but we all do understand that he is not a journalist, right? He's a commentator -- he's paid to give his opinion and, in theory, display his expertise on the subject of college basketball. He has none of the professional responsibilities that actual journalists have. His only responsibilities are to his social media engagement metrics and TV ratings. Calling him a journalist is the same as calling Rush Limbaugh a journalist.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

KSN mentioned during their 6pm news cast that Iowa St. officials are conforming that they did indeed reach out to Marshall. Seems foolish though.

                          (A) Gregg Marshall will become the coach at ISU.
                          (B) Isaac Humphries will be a Shocker.

One of these is a 100% lock. Pick one and bet your house on it.

If you pick (A) I can recommend some local shelters.

Depends on your definition of a journalist. One doesn't have to be a GOOD journalist to fall under the definition of one. "One that reports news" is as adequate a general definition as any.

Gottlieb falls under multiple defined jobs. He's a radio personality. He's a studio and game analyst for CBS Sports. And, when attempting to disseminate news to an audience, he falls under the definition of a journalist.

Rush Limbaugh is a bit different, as he rarely if ever seems to attempt to "break" news, but rather simply comments on news. Gottlieb, as the first national media member to comment on this topic, is attempting to "break" the news and take on the position of a journalist in doing so. He's not giving his opinion by "breaking" a news story, which means he isn't engaging as a commentator. After "breaking" the news as a journalist, he then shift into "commentator" mode to give his opinion on it ... but that's still a bit different than simply passively commenting on the news.

If Limbaugh did attempt to break news, he would technically fall under the umbrella of journalist, just a bad one.

Makes sense. Any P5 Athletic Director that needs a Men's Head Basketball Coach, and does NOT reach out to HC3G, should be fired.
