The idiots are in abundance at phog for sure. Their denial is what I find most humorous.

Yep, the comment that Wichita State University is essentially a small JUCO was telling. Many posters on Phog.net are living in a fantasy world. The word delusional comes to mind.
And they are completely obsessed with Gregg Marshall. Funny that.
It is all very strange psychological and sociological behavior.Last edited by SHOCKvalue; June 8, 2015, 02:40 PM.

Iowa State is dead last in the B12 in athletic department revenues. The margin from #1 Texas to ISU is absolutely massive - almost $100M. ISU is even 8 figures below the league median. They are merely trying to stave off the fact that when the next round of conference realigntment takes place they will be on the outside looking in. They are very much a weakling in the P5, and will eventually get squashed like a bug.
K-State is in essentially the same boat. If ISU is #1 on a list for "better watch your ass come realignment", then K-State is #1b.

Prohm may have been at a better spot than Winthrop (I'm about to make a Marshall comparison), but he was also in one of those spots where you can be practically undefeated and have a top 30 RPI and then get a 10 seed or something worse...like getting bumped to the NIT. This year was a prime example, although the RPI wasn't so hot. He may feel pretty ready to coach somewhere that stuff like that doesn't happen. Even still, I'm sure it is going to be a raise on some level. I can't wait to see Iowa State win some Big 12 titles. I all of the sudden have more of a vested interest in the Big 12 race next season. It's hard not to pull for this guy.
So going to Iowa St works well. Prohm can continue to schedule incredibly weak noncon schedules and be bailed out by the B12 love affair to high tournament seeds.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

EDIT: Besides, you missed the memo. In a behavior strikingly similar to our dearly departed Bluejays, Clone fans equate conference tournament championships to be the same material thing as conference regular season championships. Don't ever tell a Clone fan that they haven't been B12 champions in 14 years, you'll confuse the poor things. In their minds they are the 2014 and 2015 B12 champions.Last edited by SHOCKvalue; June 8, 2015, 05:31 PM.

They willingly scheduled four teams this last season with RPI's 239 or worse -- including Alabama A&M at 331 and Alcorn St at 348, two of the single worst teams in the entire country. Those four teams have combined for one single season with an RPI better than 190 since 2010-11, so it's not like any of them surprised them with their RPI. Compare that to our noncon schedule, where Saint Louis was the only team we willingly scheduled with an RPI worse than 100, and that was still a follow-up game from playing an SLU team with a top 35 RPI that made the tournament on the road the year prior. The only other bad RPIs we played were forced by the tournament or by the last BracketBusters rematch. I'm not going to give Murray St crap for not scheduling a murderer's row, or even the same SOS as us ... but when you willingly schedule SIU, Alabama A&M, Houston, and Alcorn St in a single year, for no reason but guaranteed wins, I've got no sympathy for your team not making the tournament. Replace those four teams with top 150 teams and Murray St would have been in. If you're going to WILLINGLY schedule teams like that, you know your only chance at the NCAA tournament is winning the auto-bid or going nearly undefeated, and you'll have a mediocre seed either way.
So going to Iowa St works well. Prohm can continue to schedule incredibly weak noncon schedules and be bailed out by the B12 love affair to high tournament seeds.

They will never make the Sweet 16,and it's hilarious, but they're better than Iowa St in that they have won regular season titles.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

Absolutely they could have. They could have found better buy games than those two, and better overall games by doing home and home. Hell, they could have swapped one for a D2 team.
Murray St isn't a powerhouse or one teams rush to play, but other teams with less name value and similar success are able to schedule better without much trouble. I bet they could have played us home and home.
Prohm played at least five noncon games against 200+ RPI teams every year he was at Murray St.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'
