As if this Kunkel guy could thrust himself further over to the TFM side of the scale, he goes and actually tweets about this.

I'm not sure whether to laugh or to cry, nor at him or on his behalf.

Sequence of events:
1. Will sees that Shockernet is making fun of the idea of Marshall to Iowa State in the HCGM thread.
2. Will decides to google it just in case
3. Will gets REALLY excited (possibly inappropriately...) when he finds that a middle school student on twitter (cyclonesinsider) has posted: "sources say #HeGone." This would be great news for the KWCH staff, although they have forgotten it would just mean KU stops winning Big 12 titles. They would have figured it out soon enough, though. For now, they are focused on their hope for WSU's demise.
4. In a rush to validate this wonderful news, Will calls the AD, gets hung up on, calls the Marshall residence, gets hung up on, messages Kellen on Facebook and Kellen finally says Iowa State has not contacted Gregg Marshall. Although, it wasn't that they didn't call. It was that HC3Gv3.3 didn't care to take the call.
5. Will sighs and takes a cold shower.
6. Will "breaks the news" that Iowa State has not contacted Marshall.

Just curious, wildcatmo -- would you have posted if the source had been The Onion? Although, in fairness, Goofball Kunkel probably would have. Florida may have been plausible (and in fact probably would have concerned me if the timing had been different); Iowa State is not.

Cyclone fans criticized our program last year for not playing anyone and we shouldn't be ranked as high as we were, not to mention higher than them. Now, these same naysayers are wanting GM to coach their program. A weird bunch they are.

I'm actually surprised Ben Jacobson hasn't got more run than GM as a possible replacement.

At no fault to Coach Jacobson, I bet Iowa State might be gun-shy to pull the trigger on another UNI guy. That or Jacobson saw what happened when McDermott went to Iowa State and is hesitant to have same thing possibly happen to him.

I know this is incorrect. Why? Because they are saying Marshall is "interviewing" for it. Marshall doesn't have to interview. He gets what he wants. Unless begging, pleading, throwing dump trucks of money at him is considered interviewing now.

Good point. No one sets up meetings with Marshall to see if HE is what THEY want. They set up meetings to see if they can sell him on the idea. They already know he is what they want. Getting him to think the same thing vice versa is the challenge.

That's not an interview. Or if anything...it's that he is interviewing them
