You forget he wants recruiters, the other aspects of the job he can learn.
Kyle has a tremendous number of contacts.
Plus a little payback for helping Marshall the last couple of years.

I think this is fine. Remember, Heiar, Brown and even Jans (if you want to go there) are here, too. My speculative side is telling me that you hire this guy because of the recruiting and overall good relationship that has been created over the last few years. He gets a chance to jump WAY up to D-1 assistant from Sunrise. There are probably a lot of really good reasons to bring him in on the recruiting end, too, that we aren't yet aware of. Not to mention the fact that 1/4 of our current roster already played for him. He might know things that can really help right now.

If he doesn't pan out, you've got Jans waiting for the call in a year or two. Wouldn't it be crazy if Jans wound up at Sunrise?

Another inappropriate speculative post:

If you are putting a waiting period on a guy like Jans (many on SN want him back but would like to see some time in between) and you've pretty much got him as your coach "on the side" why hire someone who has to pack up and move to Wichita? Go all in on recruiting like this. Linstead doesn't need to do anything other than start showing up at practice. No doubt the team already likes him. Very easy hire, I think. It would be different if you were rebuilding or something. I forgot what that's even like. We are in the business of reloading now. This guy can definitely help with that part and he already lives here.

I can get behind a lot of what you have listed however these examples are all pro players not collegiate coaches that have verbiage in his contract relating to how he represents the university. This event was informal but there were several staff members involved so it borders on a work-related event, he lied and denied affiliation with the university, then displayed terrible behavior when confronted with his wrong doing. That doesn't even get into the pat/slap/sexual assault/disrespect of your wife/... from somebody being paid to instruct young people. I can see it in a year or two but right now is too soon for me.

Hell, if you want a college coach example, go look at Bobby Petrino. That guy couldn't have been a bigger embarrassment to Arkansas, yet he was the couch of Western Kentucky just four months after his televised apology, and the couch of Louisville barely a year after that.

And he got nearly a million dollar a year raise for doing so.

Sunrise Christian 2016 - Jermaine Haley 6'7 PG/CG 4-5* ????

Might want to check some updates on Haley. His ranking dropped like a rock last year. 247 had him dropping from 50 to around 140. They show his composite ranking dropping from around 70 to just over 200.

His recruiting list is still solid. Not much agreement on it among the various sites. De-committed from Washington in October, 2014. Reclassified to 2016 to take a prep year at Sunrise.
