Great points Trop. Recruiting at the Prep Schools is huge now and I like having players for 4 Seasons that have already played against such awesome competition. Kyle has been around that and will be an asset for our Program.

I would say it's more likely he'd coach this year at WSU than it is that he would coach Sunrise. That's a very tight knit, practicing Christian private school. It would be a much tougher sell to get the parents behind that.

On another note, my wife made the point that the Lindsted family practically runs that school, too. I wouldn't know, but that's probably somewhat true. It might not be the most wonderful thing for Sunrise to lose him. That could be why it took a while on the announcement. It may have been a tougher decision for Kyle than you would think.

          • It sounds weird but I call it mad genius.

The dividends from this move could be huge.

Dr Lindsted has adequate administrators to pick up the slack and it's not like he was their only coach anyway. They have four teams.

Please. I hope not. Like Chip Kelly. Otherwise I am for genius.

                • Jans will lay low for a year or two while getting to recruit without any NCAA restrictions. Then WSU hires him while bringing in those recruits.

Well, that's legal now, but according to the video Jans doesn't bat for the other team.

                    • I don't pretend to know 3G's thought process in making this hire but I am not surprised he is doing something unexpected outside the box. After reading Paul's report on Coach Lindsted I wonder if 3G may see a little bit of himself in Kyle. They seem to share a lot of the same beliefs and philosophies. I think it is an intriguing hire.

I have no idea what will happen with Chris Jan's but I would not be at all surprised if he isn't back on the sidelines again this fall at some level. He might go the Steve Forbes route and go back to a JUCO head coaching gig for a couple of years. That worked well for Coach Forbes after getting knocked on his butt. 2 years at NW Florida and 2 on staff at WSU and he has his 1st head coaching gig at the D-1 level.

Jans gets a head coaching gig at a JUCO. Greg Heiar is promoted to Associate Head Coach. Greg Heiar takes a D-1 head coaching job in a couple of years. Chris Jans replaces Greg Heiar. A couple of year's later Chris Jans takes another D-1 head coaching job. At that point Kyle Lindsted is ready to move into the chair next to 3G. Unlikely to happen that way but who knows.

                          • No one can replace 3g. There will just be another person that will have the same title some years down the road.

                            • Look at the roster for Gonzaga in recent seasons. They've had quite a few players from outside the US or with post-high school experience. Those are good pipelines -- plus, at WSU, we have Marshall on our side to work with the guys who come in.
