If Marshall does in fact re-hire Jans, I don't think that the on court decisions is the biggest part of his return. Gregg and Chris have a friendship and loyalty that has developed over their years together at WSU. No one knows Chris better than Gregg. Everyone deserves redemption and forgiveness if they are remorseful and repentant. If this does come to pass, I have confidence that Gregg will handle it well.

    • I believe Chris Jans is in need of some employment who would be a good fit obviously was in the past and should be available at a good price. Go Shoxs

He's probably going to be out a million bucks for having slapped a woman on the butt in a bar. I think that's enough punishment.
I think that being lucid is his challenge. The slap on the butt was just a byproduct. I'm not sure punishment is a term I would use for his situation.

        • I think they will soon announce that Chris is coming back to Marshallville. Then they will announce the signing of Isaac Humphries. No one will be talking about Chris and he can slide back into being a great assistant. Great strategy by a great coach.

            Lucid? Seriously?

            • My personal opinion is that he will come back as an assistant but with a limited role in out of town recruiting or possibly his expertise in game prep and scouting being his primary focus for a year or so. It doesn't appear that there was much public outcry in announcing a possible rehire. He will be a great addition to the staff and might be just what they need to make a run at a national championship.

              • lucid - in possession of one's faculties, clearheaded, sober, etc.

I think bball96 was referring to alcohol being the main problem and the slap on the butt being merely a symptom.

                  96,

Extra seriously. Choose another word in lieu of lucid.

Not sure I'd have that sentiment if it was my daughter/wife.

                    • It was a pat.

No, the proper punishment for the offense towards a wife or daughter (assuming the ass pat was wholly unwelcome - something the video DOES NOT confirm in any way, shape, or form) is an ol' fashioned ass kicking, NOT the destruction of an entire career and a $1M fine.

                        • Pretty sure every angle of the pat has been talked about ad nauseum, but if y'all want to rehash it again, be my guest.

                          • Listen, when all this originally came up and I read the documents and emails I understood the punishment, even if a bit excessive. On the flip side, while we live in a society that's overly sensitive these days it's also very forgiving. We can forgive Michael Vick for what he did and give him a second chance. In the end he seemed to have mostly made up for his wrongs, changed as a person, and hopefully reached some young individuals about the lessons he learned and the world is better off. You'll see Adrian Peterson score another touchdown in the NFL, mark it down. And sadly, perhaps even Ray Rice. The list goes on, and on.

If those guys get a second chance, Chris Jans absolutely deserves one. When he takes the right steps to fix his problems within himself and family, I'll be excited and proud for 3G and WSU to stand up and take him back.

Edit: Sorry Kai, might have shut this down if I had seen your post a min earlier, haha.

This is an EXCELLENT comparison, and honestly, it wins.

I can get behind a lot of what you have listed however these examples are all pro players not collegiate coaches that have verbiage in his contract relating to how he represents the university. This event was informal but there were several staff members involved so it borders on a work-related event, he lied and denied affiliation with the university, then displayed terrible behavior when confronted with his wrong doing. That doesn't even get into the pat/slap/sexual assault/disrespect of your wife/... from somebody being paid to instruct young people. I can see it in a year or two but right now is too soon for me.
