And CBS? Count to 5 before hitting "send" nest time.
Exposed (nothing new) as a know nothing.

      End of discussion.

PS. Shocks got a great draw with the weakest #2. Road should be clear to matchup with Ky.

      • Don't really like complaining about being underseeded. Pitt was VERY underseeded in 2013 and they got absolutely demolished in their first game. Seeds stop mattering once you take the court.

Second; I have a serious bone to pick with your team: when you didn't quite beat Kentucky last year you broke my heart; we were all rooting for your team big time.

As for the game, all five of our starters can shoot the three ball. Our defense is, at times, awful, really awful. At other times (including during the past week), it rises all the way to "average".
Yogi Ferrell is really good. Him vs FVV should be a fantastic matchup. Yogi has always been extremely strong and quick. His decision making is not nearly as good as FVV, but it has improved dramatically.
Our most athletic big, Perea, is questionable to play at best with a re-aggravated knee injury. In his place we start another 40%+ 3pt shooter; the 6'7" Collinn Hartman. We are very young, and our freshmen hit the wall about six weeks ago, but they seem to have gotten a bit of a second wind during the BigTen Tourney. We can't defend the post at all, but we defend the three reasonably well and we rebound very well on the offensive end only. We are very good from the ft line.

Our starting lineup will likely be:

              Ferrell, 6'0" jr
              Blackmon, 6'3" fr
              Johnson, 6'3" fr
              Williams, 6'7" so
              Hartman, 6'7" so

Our fan base is rabid, and then some. Our coach is a good guy but is on professional life support at IU. In fact, many on our board have and will speculate that whichever coach wins this game will be IU's coach next year! At the very least, many of our folks have speculated that Crean needs a good tourney showing to save his job. The money is already there to replace him.

Good luck (but not too much), and here's to an injury-free game.
Thanks for the great breakdown and for stopping by!

However, have you heard of this Shaka Smart guy? Boy I think he'd do well at Indiana. You guys should go get him >=)

Actually, our fanbase's unrequited love currently resides in Boston taking a temporary break in the NBA. Guy's a born and bred IU fan named Brad ;)

After that, Donovan, Marshall, Archie Miller, and Shaka are the most frequently mentioned.

PS: We rely heavily, heavily on a four or five-out offense. No post on offense usually. Alll five look to drive and kick to a three point shooter. I know the Shockers play excellent defense, but have you faced anything similar to that style, and if so, how did it go for you?

Northern Iowa has s similar style but obviously doesn't play as fast. The results were very different from game 1 to game 2.

That's pretty much what is run by every Missouri Valley schools, although most MVC teams aren't as good as Big 10 teams. We did pretty good, 17-1 overall.

Well heck...I hope we have better than a one in eighteen shot! This year's IU team is good enough to beat anyone, and bad enough to lose to anyone. Depends on their fickle mood.

I bet we could win 12 Top 50 games if we had 20 chances at them, half being at home.

They also have 4 pretty bad losses - Creighton, Washington, and swept by offensively-challenged K-State

Northern Iowa's entire offense runs through their post. That's not a similar style at all. That would only be similar if you took Tuttle off their team and had Washpun driving/kicking out primarily, rather than the inside-out offense they run through Tuttle. In other words ... that's probably Northern Iowa next year.

I don't know if we've played any team exactly like that this year. From a less talented standpoint, maybe Detroit? We beat them by nine on the road, but they played us well. Loyola as well -- also played us somewhat close.

But yeah, outside of a few teams (Northern Iowa, Illinois State, and Evansville), that's somewhat similar to what a lot of the Valley teams play, due to lack of big men and usually one star player. Star player drives and tries to finish or kicks out to a perimeter shooter.
