  • Here the deal. This is finally a game for WSU prove to the haters and non-believers that they are the real deal. We all already know it, but no one will be able to excuse this victory, should it happen tomorrow.

It is because of this, I expect WSU to go in and lay it down on UNI. It might be close for a while, but Shox win going away. This is an opportunity to make a statement; something 3Gs' program thrives on.

      • WSU has opened up as 1 point favorites, with the line moving to -2.

            • I actually want this to be a knockdown drag out battle to the end. I want my favorite team in the whole wide world to win this because of timely and accurate free throw shooting. We stink from the line this season. Fred in his career scoring night vs. Loyola missed 3 free throws. In order for this team to make a run in the dance, they have to find a way to shoot free throws, and especially late, much, much better. I want this game to come down to us NEEDING to make free throws against a quality opponent. GO SHOX!!!

I have convinced myself to feel better about the Loy game with this logic. The Shocks won by 11. If the Shocks had made just two of the many lay-up misses, then the Shocks would have won by 15. The misses were an anomaly. Fifteen ain't so bad.

Cotton will not miss another dunk in his lifetime.

                Just sayin'.

I'll probably be the same way at the end of February when they come to our place (especially if they're still ranked). This will be a fun game indeed.

This game will come down to 1 major item....can we slow Tuttle without doubling? And there's a difference between help and doubling. If we have to double, then they'll find open 3 point shooters and even though they've been sporadically effective from 3 this year, as sure as the day is long, they'll hammer home one after the other against us Saturday. If we can play them straight up, we'll win.
I hate seeing those open 3s being taken from the corners.

I'll take an exact repeat of the women's game, winner and score.

                              • I think Shaq will do quite well against Tuttle (whom I had lunch with just yesterday) in whatever minutes DC can't. Staying out of foul trouble will be big for us because I don't think we can go three deep and defend the big man.

Neither team has much of an offensive presence at the 4. I like Wessel and Kelly in the match-up.

I really liked the press with Brown and Kelly trapping against Loyola. I don't think Mitchell will be able to handle it.

I'm a little nervous about Washpun. I don't think FVV matches up particularly well against his athleticism and he typically ends up with 2 fouls at halftime during Saturday afternoon games in the Valley. As was mentioned previously, Cotton might be the answer.

Morgan on Baker on the perimeter should be a good match-up.
