WSU VERSUS NIU PREDICTIONS AND PREGAME DISCUSSIONS

Another grinder for our young men and I don't see either team scoring above 60 in this one. If DC is healthy he and Shaq should contain Tuttle but will probably use all 10 fouls (it is UNI after all). Our secret weapon is Tevin Glass. For the past few games it appears he's finally figured out 3G's offensive and defensive schemes (reportedly the among the most difficult to learn) and he's finally broken the "glass" ceiling. If that's the case, he's a wild card for the rest of the Valley as they have absolutely no tape on him. Think about it, half way through the conference schedule and suddenly the Shockers have yet another stud that can come off the bench and offer solid minutes.

All that said, I too thought the Shox would lose at least two during Valley play and this is one of those losses I was projecting. I think this one comes down to the wire but we lose a close one. First team to hit 56 wins this one.

I think it comes down to Darius Carter. If he's healthy and can stay on the floor, we win. If not, could be a tough day.

That being said, our guys are battle tested. I would say the game at Utah was a tougher one - tougher environment and Utah is a superior team to UNI.

I guess I ruffled some feathers with my questioning of their ideas for court storming. They have a good board over there, lots of knowledgeable fans. I didn't realize this would be the best game ever to be played at McLeod. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Just to give you the full story, we say NIU on purpose because it has been mistakenly done in the national media before. There are times during the UNI history where they were kinda good but still mid majorish enough for the national media to not know the difference between UNI and NIU. NIU is the huskies. They are generally good at mid level football but not much of a force in basketball...even more mid majory than UNI.

Which leads me to the next point. UNI fans go absolutely nuts when you confuse the two because they feel like getting called NIU is to not respect them as much as they deserve, being a perpetual lock for the dance in their own minds. In the spirit of good rivalry, we often call them NIU on purpose as a slight. Often times, a UNI poster will find their way to our board and go on a rant about how dumb we are for not even knowing their real name...thereby handing us the goal we were looking for by posting NIU as their name in the first place.

As for the part about a double digit win in Cedar Falls, I'm still going for the same thing. 1. Who are these guys? NIU huskies? ... Okay well 2. We are going to own them by 20 :) bring on the annoyed Panthers in 3. 2. 1....

Before you get frustrated that I said "who are these guys? we will beat them by 20" I will add to the equation that anyone on Shockernet will tell you about how I go on my own rants about how much I love the Valley, respect Jacobsen, wish for strong teams to play high level basketball (just like UNI is this year), and root for this conference all season long. I get made fun of for RPI watching and caring at all when most have moved on that this conference is a dead end. I love rivalries. UNI finally gave me a good game to look forward to this year, so naturally I'm going to roast them prior to the game.

I really hope you didn't actually post on their board. Either way, if you did, I hope it makes them super mad and that they come over here and complain that a bunch of us called them UNI when they are actually NIU. They have a really good baseball team this year right?

Well. It may be the most important and hyped game to be played there because of that whole thing about this being the first time since before they were in the league that two ranked teams faced each other.

On the other hand, you might want to remind them that this probably wont be the best game ever played at their arena at the end of the night :)
