Indeed, not much of a contest. But, we Shocker fans need to recognize that the school does a LOT of things well other than just playing basketball (and some of those things have been even more consistent than the basketball playing over the years).

I liked the announcers more or less counting Wessel's "hustle points". Good term for it, and even though Evan didn't score a lot of points off hustle plays that gave the Shox an extra possession, Evan probably accounted for something like 8 points the Shox would not have had if Evan hadn't gotten the ball.

Evan is one of the most unique players I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I've never seen a more influential player on a game who doesn't "fill up the stat sheet". The only player that comes close was watching Dennis Rodmann, who filled up the stat sheet with respect to rebounds, but was someone who just influenced the game beyond stats.

This is exactly right. He wins more battles to get balls that are on the floor than anyone I've ever seen. The thing that baffles me is that there are some who don't see what he does to make this team better and they want to change his role on the team saying that he should play less. There may be a few games where he has a bad matchup but he isn't going to play instead of Cotton and he is better than Kelly at this time (although I'm impressed with some of his skills and improvement. He just isn't consistent and disappears from time to time). Next year may be different but for this year, I agree with Gregg and put my trust in Evan.

I kinda enjoyed the beatdown yesterday. I suppose some might say it was petty, but I liked it.

I was at the game yesterday, my first chance to see the Shocks live this year. The defense that they played was impressive as hell. I was reminded of the "rolling ball of butcher knives" meme I've seen on a lot of forums. I wasn't disappointed in the beatdown.
I just watched the first half replay and noticed a couple of things. At the 2:00 minute mark, the camera shows Baker and Wessel looking at the lump on EWs elbow. That sucker was huge. I hope it doesn't hamper him in the next few games. I was watching Mike Kennedy and DD when Marshall was interviewed before the 2nd half. About the time that 3G said 1-12, both of them reacted with big laughs. I'm guessing that they were listening in. I also had entry to the Champions room between the games, very nice to drink a couple beers before watching the Lady Shocks.

I loved the Drake defense on the second one - three Blulogs had plenty of time to step in and contest it but nooooo, they stepped backward and let TC do his thing - haha! Think he's in their heads just a little?
