I am also thankful for the continued progress by our newcomers. It makes me wonder what our team will be like in March. I like our trajectory. We are again seeing the brilliance of Gregg Marshall by what has transpired with Shaq over the past few games. Coach knew he needed a wake up call, and Shaq responded.

They were going aggressively after balls and refusing to be out-muscled. Shaq was first to the floor at the 3pt line on a ball he tipped to keep alive in the paint. I don't know if it will last, but if it does, we may take off.

Watching the game tonight was like watching two different games. The first half we couldnt hit anything and our defensive intensity was just not there. Looked like frustration was setting in and Coach was at a boiling point. Second half we looked like a top 20 team. I feel like some of the consistency issues we're having is due to working in the freshmen through out the game. Shaq really showed up tonight and if we can get that kind of play from him night in night out we will be in good shape in Febuary and March. He has good touch and he was hitting the boards tonight. Kelly, Brown, Henderson also gave us some really good minutes. There were times when we had 3 freshmen in the game at critical parts of the game and I felt they held up real well. Ron's back to back threes were a huge momentum changer and Darius had a solid game especially in the second half. We have to give Bradley some credit, they were playing like it was for the league title. Everyone in the Valley wants a piece of the Shockers. 18-0 will be very very hard to do again, but as long as we win the league championship thats fine....

Much better second half by the Shox. Everybody seemed focused, Shaq was on, Darius was on, FVV played like a PG again, defensively they were amazing. Now can they put together 2 great halves against Loyola. With the way the valley is this season, there are no gimmes, and WSU has to bring it. Keep the intensity rolling on!
I didn't think the officiating was as bad as some. While the crew itself wasn't great, I've seen worse. It's apparent to me that Keith Kimble was the most experienced of the crew, and he was also the most consistent. The charge call on FVV was a definite missed call, and I'm not sure what the official saw on the moving screen by Kelly. That's a no call all the way. Marshall should have gotten whacked, no doubt. I would hope the reason he didn't is because the officials realized the charge call and the moving screen were missed calls. Overall though, I thought it was a well called game. A few misses, but that's part of the game. What's also part of the game is the ref bashing. We as officials get it, but I will say I wish that some of these fans would put on the stripes and call a few games and see how it feels. They would learn it isn't nearly as easy as they make it out to be. These guys are D1 officials for a reason, and much like the Shox haven't been on top of their game lately, sometimes the officiating isn't on top of their game. It happens. Good teams find a way to get past the missed calls and use it as motivation, such as the Shox did tonight. Good for them.
Couple other notes, there's no such thing as over the back. You won't find it in the rulebook and I hate when people use that term. I also hate that restraining arc. If a player takes a charge, no matter where it is on the court, it should be a charge. Who cares if he has a foot in the stupid restraining arc. Dumbest thing ever.
Last thing, a lot of class from Bradley tonight. You knock somebody down, you help them up. Bradley did that, and that's how it should be. Muller and his Redbirds should take some lesson on class from Geno and Bradley. Well done Braves.
Well, bring on Loyola. I'm stoked that this team, despite not playing their best basketball, is 3-0 in the Valley. Just win baby!

Bradley also orchestrated a masterful fouling and hacking game. Sell out on defense... Then they had serious foul trouble. We are going to look like we are struggling while that is going on and then eventually they run out of fouls to give and the wheels come off. The goal is probably to make us stagnant for a period of time and hope you can get hot at the same time to put us on our heels early. Well, they didn't hit enough shots. Then Ron buried two threes and we opened it up. They had 3 or 4 guys with 4 fouls soon after and it was over.

Fred didn't score much tonight but ended with about 9 assists and only one turnover. Thats what I like about Fred, he,s not worried about how many points he scores. He just wants to help get the best shot for his teamates. Great game Fred...
