    You have? Good heavens.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. In fairness, you're a ref and I'm not, and no doubt it's tougher than it looks -- but those guys tonight were not exactly making it look easy.

Agreed 100% about Bradley showing some class, though. What a refreshing change from their Illinois brethren.

I didn't think the officiating was as bad as some. While the crew itself wasn't great, I've seen worse. It's apparent to me that Keith Kimble was the most experienced of the crew, and he was also the most consistent. The charge call on FVV was a definite missed call, and I'm not sure what the official saw on the moving screen by Kelly. That's a no call all the way. Marshall should have gotten whacked, no doubt. I would hope the reason he didn't is because the officials realized the charge call and the moving screen were missed calls. Overall though, I thought it was a well called game. A few misses, but that's part of the game. What's also part of the game is the ref bashing. We as officials get it, but I will say I wish that some of these fans would put on the stripes and call a few games and see how it feels. They would learn it isn't nearly as easy as they make it out to be. These guys are D1 officials for a reason, and much like the Shox haven't been on top of their game lately, sometimes the officiating isn't on top of their game. It happens. Good teams find a way to get past the missed calls and use it as motivation, such as the Shox did tonight. Good for them.

Couple other notes, there's no such thing as over the back. You won't find it in the rulebook and I hate when people use that term. I also hate that restraining arc. If a player takes a charge, no matter where it is on the court, it should be a charge. Who cares if he has a foot in the stupid restraining arc. Dumbest thing ever.

Last thing, a lot of class from Bradley tonight. You knock somebody down, you help them up. Bradley did that, and that's how it should be. Muller and his Redbirds should take some lesson on class from Geno and Bradley. Well done Braves.

Well, bring on Loyola. I'm stoked that this team, despite not playing their best basketball, is 3-0 in the Valley. Just win baby!
Your posts would be a lot more tolerable if you left the insistent referee defending out of them. You defending refs to no end every game are as bad as those that you b**** about complaining about officiating every game. Yes, we know you're an 8th grade biddy basketball referee. We ALL understand this every time you preface it in every single game thread post. This is a message board however. And as college basketball fans, the complaints are always gonna come at the officiating. They're making a decent paycheck. They can handle it. If not, they can exit on out.

Ask Gregg how the officiating was tonight.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

Oh believe me, it gets far worse. I know guys who have worked that have never even seen a basketball game before, you can imagine how that went. Lol. But yea, as a crew this wasn't the best effort by any stretch. Individually, all of them had some good calls, and all of them had some head scratchers. I still believe Keith Kimble is the best of the 3.

Agreed 100 percent about Bradley. Being nice and respectful to your opponents goes a long way.

        • I for one say over the back because one player goes over the other player's back and makes the illegal contact generally on the back.

There is probably nothing in the rule book about the Karate Kid Crane Kick by name but if a player does it people are going to call that by name. The refs can just use their generic phrasing.

          • Ah, so nice not to be able to see whatever Shockerfever had to say, which I no doubt wouldn't have liked. Ignore is a beautiful function to have. Good morning everybody!

No worries, call it what you want. Uneducated fans call it over the back, heck even coaches that should know better call it over the back. One of the great misnomers as far as hoops goes. I just do my part to try to educate.

You're defeating the purpose of the ignore function by acknowledging my post. Way ta go Skippy.

                • The officiating was horrible. Absolutely horrible. Not only that, they were totally gutless. They shoulda teed HCGM up at least twice.

                  • I dont ***** about the refs much, but it gets really annoying from someone to claims to officiate to say he knows better than us. We dont need a scouting report on how the refs did every game from you. Dude its a freaking fan message board so get over it. Sorry to say but bitching about the refs is just part of the game. It has been and will always be. And agree with Shockerfever, they get paid well enough to handle it.

Yep, Marshall probably should have got one. I would hope the reason he didn't is because the officials knew they missed those 2 calls he was so furious about. That's most likely the case, kind of a "we screwed up so we're not gonna penalize you" kind of thing. Or it's always a possibility they didn't have the guts to.

                          • I look at officiating like obscenity. I know it when I see it.

I didn't recognize the crew, although I heard one was in Hawaii for our tourney. The short guy was excellent I thought. The 2 tall guys have had better days. I'm still not sure what the illegal screen call was about and the charge against Fred was below average. I also thought Shaq got away with a ton of contact on shots that should have been called.

How that crew didn't T up Gregg I have no idea. That rant was a frigging masterpiece.....Gregg works in obscenities like others work in oils or clay. A true artist.

I think my favorite part of the game was when Fred came out at the end. NINE assists, 1 turnover. Sat in foul trouble. Crowd applauds, every coach and player gives him "5" as he walks in between Coach and the bench, and without warning he just blows by and smacks Gregg on the butt. Classic. There was some good team building in that game last night, and if they can build on it, more good things are in our future.

I agree with you, I enjoy reading your posts, you bring great insight to the forums. The short guy is probably the same one I thought was really good. At the risk of offending somebody, you're talking about the black official, correct? If so, I concur that he was by far the best of the 3 and the other 2 were just there.

I think the officials knew they blew the fvv call and the illegal screen call, that's why Marshall didn't get whacked. A lot of times when an official knows he kicked a call, he'll take a lot more from a coach as long as it doesn't become personal. I think that's what happened last night.

That scene on the bench with fvv was awesome. He actually looked like he was having fun, and that's exactly what they needed

                              • There were a lot of calls missed both ways. It happens. The one that set me off, Gregg as well, was the charge. The official was in no position to make that call. That's not judgement. That's just bad technique.

Interesting enough, according to Lutz, last night was the guilty officials 15th game of the year. How is it we're in January and this guy has only 15 games? Also, he had called 6 techicals in the previous 14 yet doesn't T Gregg. Can you say intimidated?
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.
