Yep, it was, but with the scholarship situation for next year, at this point in time, there's not a lot more to be said about him.

Kennedy and Hull (I think the color guy is Hull - but I don't pay much attention to that) agreed that FVV was getting fouls called because of his interactions with the referee.

Jamar Howard got fouls called on him just because of his facial expressions when he got called for something. I still think Howard cost us more than a few games because of his facial expression (unspoken) of attitude.
I agree with everything you said there, and I'm surprised Kennedy wasn't going off on the officials like he usually does.. or was he? True, as officials we have more weapons than just serving up tea to a player or coach.. but, some officials take it way too far and it turns into a grudge, where they will go out of their way to make sure a player never gets a favorable call again. It's not right, and it's that ego thing that some on here have talked about. Officials should call fouls because they are fouls, not because a player said something the official didn't like (unfortunately pretty much any kind of touch on a ball handler is a foul these days, which I hate). Same with a no call, I don't know how many games I've seen where a guy gets hammered but doesn't get the call because he barked at officials earlier in the game. Again, it's not right.

I concur on Howard, he definitely had some attitude on the court and at times was more of a liability than an asset. There's no doubt in my mind officials got together and his name came up often.

In either case, Fred is getting very few positive results by driving the lane, and that's taken away a big part of his game.

Yes, even more for the fans than for the players themselves. Meanwhile, in classic SN fashion, the Shaq thread has become a discussion about FVV and one person's diagnosis that he has an attitude problem in the making.

              "Abandon thread" indeed.

              • My God; we’ve now stooped to a new low… comparing Fred VanVleet’s attitude to Jamar Howard’s. The nincompoops are running the asylum.

                • I think Fred has a chip on his shoulder just like many on this board. I certainly don't see it as an attitude problem. There are times when a "chip" can cost you points and even ball games, but when a mature individual, such as Fred, has a chip, more times than not it's going to help him gut it out against the odds.

As far as tolerance of negative comments on this board, some are confusing disagreement with attack. Many disagree with my takes on things, but if it's insult free, then it's just disagreement. It's not my job or anyone else's to gain a consensus opinion. I, for one, am quite thankful that the only thing we can gripe about is that our All-American PG is playing like the best PG in the league instead of the best PG in America and that we're concerned about two very talented freshman bigs playing like freshman. Lastly we can complain that a top 40 high school player, and walk-on, might not be a perfect fit. I certainly don't miss the days Bart Westgeest, Matt Clark, and Rick Conn.

Well said sir, well said. Yes, the last thing we need to do is go back to the Randy Smithson days. Ugh!

First of all, I didn't say it was an attitude problem yet. I said he definitely showed some attitude towards Janssen last night and that his frustration could turn into more of an attitude problem. Second, I'm not the only person that feels this way, so no need to single me out. Yes, I wish some people would abandon this thread, you're right. Have a good day, sir.

We don't need no Fred "take a seat" VanVleet out there.. Whatever went on does not need to happen again..

Now, let's take it back..to Shaq...

:) I always figure the classic lines like "you just can't post anything other than sunshine or the board will shred you" or the "I don't post much because everyone here doesn't allow anything negative" comments are kind of like pre-emptive defense mechanisms.

                              • Just want to say that I believe that the bias by refs against WSU started with the Randy Smithson era. That is when a large group of the current officials who are still working MVC games today formed their attitude.
MT noticed it and tried to reverse it to no avail and it continues through the HCGM era. It is not going to change and you just have to overcome it by being better than the other team. CU was the official's darlings for
years and they are gone. Just play YOUR GAME Shox.
