Shocker Madness should be announced a month ahead of time and ADVERTISED. And it should be on Friday night. I am fine with the non-extravagant nature of the Marshall system. I just wish it was always a bigger deal and Thursday night with little buildup doesn't lend itself to a full house
Maybe Marshall doesn't want a full house. Maybe he doesn't want to do it at all. I agree that IF they are going to do it, they should inform folks sooner, but Marshall can run it however he'd like, for my money.

The athletic department is probably be too busy preparing for Rockin' the Roundhouse (a $100 a ticket event) that is on Saturday the 18th which also means a Friday evening event may not have given them enough time to set up Saturday's "Shocker Shindig".

Well, Friday night is high school football and Saturday night is college football.

A Thursday night with less than 2 weeks notice. Is the athletic dept. trying to keep the crowd small?

Doesn't seem to stop other big name-brand schools.

Is high school and college football only important in the Wichita area or something?

              ... No really, deuces.

How far in advance is Rockin' the Roundhouse planned? Does it have to coincide with this event or could it have been done a week earlier or week later?

Just always seems to be an excuse.

But whatever. If Shocker Madness isn't a big deal to them because they aren't getting any additional $$$$$$$$$, then so be it.

I was thinking about it and it might really be true. I mean how many high schools and events are there other than late night in a smaller college town? In any huge metro area, you have way more high schools and events. I don't know.

Possibly. I don't know if you'd consider Austin, Texas to be small or football not to be a big deal in Texas, but they seem to have no issues with a Friday night madness.

I think they did it like this a couple/three years ago too, don't like Thursday much either.

They also have 50,000+ students to draw from. Until our students start attending in hordes, our primary audience is working and retirement age stiffs like me. I bet the new apartment changes all of that next season though. Which means they could move it to a Friday and not worry about it.

This!! I have just a little feeling that if HCGM wanted this to be a big event, it would be. If he didn't want it to be on a Thursday, it wouldn't. He also "reduced" the fan experience from 2 exhibition games to 1, that's assuming your fan experience has not been up to snuff the last few years. So, if one has complaints............keep sending them to the AD as I don't want Marshall bothered by this.

I find it hard to believe that how Shocker Madness is handled is really in the hands of the Athletic Department. This is 3G's territory and if he wanted it handled any differently I have to believe it would be. It is what it is so embrace and enjoy it. So we only get 5,000 people to attend and you get to enjoy prime seating with more space. Could be a lot worse.

Unfortunately for me I will be out of town on the 16th so the key factor for me this year will be the reports by my fellow Shockernetters so I hope any of you who will be attending will be on your game. I look forward to reading your observations.

I don't think Coach Marshall has an issue with it, but think he doesnt want it to be a glorified stunt.

It could be that the players like it, and recruits like it, which is why they continue to set visit for it.

I know of one guy the staff wanted badly, but he wasnt sold in his "Shocker Madness" experience.
