  • Weber was just on 810 and says they are close to getting a Sprint Center/IBA series together for the Shox and K-State.

That would be a great series. Fan interest would fill both arenas up.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Yearly? Or just a one off H/H (or N/N) series?

I'd take a locked-in yearly series right now. Would be good for the state.

Now do the same for KU, only alternated. If we play KSU in IBA, we play KU in SC (then next year, switch).

Let's keep the politician's out of it IMHO. If it happens organically fine. Otherwise the Shocks just need to keep sawing wood.

I only said that, because of the other thread where it was mentioned he would like to see them all play each other.

Sadly, it might be the only way it ever happens though.

He was asked if they were going to start playing Wichita State every year. His response was that he didn't know about every year but the administrations had been working on a series that would likely be at the Sprint Center and IBA. So it doesn't sound like there is a long term yearly commitment yet but that a short term deal was in the works. Perhaps we're not willing to ink a long term deal because there's no guarantee that the cats will be able to sustain any long term success. :adoration:

Bottom line: You won't see that game in Wichita for at least two years. KC - maybe next year. Don't hold your breath.

Also, someone might to confirm with our coach on the next coaches show..

Aside from missing the fact that we'll play two more games in Hawaii, I'd say the writer is pretty spot on regarding the Shox: "With no more Power 5 conference teams and no more ranked teams left on its schedule, it could be awhile before Wichita State even comes close to another loss."

Only if it were that easy. I expect that we will have our challenges and some ups and downs along the way. Whether those result in any losses who knows but we will get every opponent's absolutely best effort as we discovered last year. With all due respect to the author this will not be easy peasy lemon squeasy.

                        • KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Every year a handful of college basketball players make dumb decisions based off bad information when it comes to the NBA draft...

Props to Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall for this quick-hitter to get star guard Ron Baker a three. Baker sets a ball screen for Fred VanVleet, which serves as distraction for his defender, and then Shaquille Morris sets a flare screen for Baker to get him wide-open.

In an October interview with VanVleet for a Baker profile (you can read that here), I asked VanVleet if he had any good stories about Baker that show his Western Kansas roots. He delivered.

This summer Baker and VanVleet were working a camp in Western Kansas. Baker would drive them in his Ford pickup truck, and one morning VanVleet beat Baker out to the truck. Between the hotel and Baker's truck sat a stray dog.

"And where I'm from, we run from dogs," VanVleet said. "You don't play around. You don't even get close to them."

VanVleet froze until Baker came out, and as soon as he unlocked the truck door, VanVleet booked it.

"I couldn't warn him that the dog is out there," VanVleet said. "I'm thinking, 'I hope he doesn't get bit.' So he walks out and the dog runs up to him. He doesn't flinch. He starts petting it. I'm like, 'What the hell?' Then he picks up the dog and puts him in the back of the truck and drives to the gym.

"I didn't even ask him. I just thought maybe that he knew this dog. Maybe it was his family's dog. The whole time I'm just sitting there quiet, and this dog is in the back of this pickup truck, and I don't say nothing. I'm just thinking, 'What is wrong with this dude?'"

Turns out, Baker had seen the stray dog the night before in the hotel lobby. He ended up calling the local cops when they got to the gym to come get the dog.

So there you have it. In addition to his fearlessness in big games, Ron Baker has no fear of canines.

"That just blew my mind," VanVleet said.
"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."

Am I missing something -- and if so, which is likely, can you help direct me to the right location or link? Thanks.

Look down towards the bottom under Chalkboard and under Leftovers.
